hmm where else would you reccomend then?

If you like to drink and gamble go to Vegas, but I would go to Miami(south beach) or the Florida Keys, it depends on what you're trying to get out of your trip.

You shouldn't worry about Fidel, you just worry about most US politicians, man
i fixed that for you...

Fidel, I think he's 80-81. His brother is kind of doing shit right now from what I've read. Apparently he's trying to allow in a lot of shit that Fidel didn't want, like video games and car parts and shit.

you got to fly in through a country that has no U.S. customs booth at the airport though, or you risk coming under intense scrutiny by punk ass government officials

::

That true if you have a connecting flight that goes to the U.S. That's where living near the country helps. Example: If you live in WA and go to BC you just drive across instead of flying. Get your round trip ticket from Vancouver to Havana and just drive to and from Vancouver. Problem solved.

The U.S. media's analysis of Raul is either intentionally false, doesn't believe the population can understand the complexity of Cuban politics given the decades of lies we've been told, or else just really really bad. (I believe all three)

There are more popular, more charismatic, and more capable leaders in high office already in Cuba ready to step in. Fidel can't run a country on his own. He's a figure head. Raul isn't very popular either - Fidel is. Raul has always been the more hard core Stalinist of the original revolutionary leadership. The media is setting people up for a fall by feeding them info otherwise.

Thanks for the info.

And I like your idea of driving from Seattle to Vancouver and then flying. I'll have to do that some day. Maybe in a few years once I'm settled in a career.

My step sister lives in Miami. She likes it a lot. She's tried to get me to visit her so we can go "clubbing" and shit...but I don't need to meet bitches cause I got a girl....

She took my step dad clubbing with her. It was pretty funny to see pictures of a 55 year old dude that I've known all my life clubbing. I never would have expected it. Hella funny shit.

How about people inside the US? how did this factor change your traveling ways?
Did you travel outside the US more often then you do now when the dollar was stronger?

It cut my travel plans. Travel to places like Canada, Mexico, Cuba, etc was much better when the dollar was stronger. Now - not so much.

I'll be looking for places within the US to travel for now.
