I picked Williams by UD. I think Quintana keeps it close even though he got battered by Cotto. Cotto/Williams are two different types of fighters and Quintana is a good enough boxer to keep this competitive if he can get around Pauls height.

I'ma check it out, especially to see Andre Berto whos on the undercard. It'd be tight if Wiliams and Berto fought eachother after this, but its not likely to happen.

wow, can you say EXPOSED

Williams got beat, straight up. he took a lot of punishment and his face was fucked up. never hurt quintana at all.

this really puts a twist in the welterweight division

:::

Carlos "El Indio" Quintana (25-1, 20 KOs) dethroned previously inbeaten WBO welterweight champion Paul "The Punisher" Williams (33-1, 24 KOs) on Saturday night at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California. As always, the 6'2 Williams kept his hands moving, but Quintana attacked relentlessly, connecting with the harder shots. Williams was cut over both eyes. Quintana won by scores of 115-113, 116-112, 116-112.

Props to Quintana for fighting a real good fight. Williams needs to use his fucking height better. What's the point in being a 6"1/6"2 welter if you're getting that close to someone.

.. also I want to say this Quintana just won a fucking title as a big underdog and all Max Kellerman can talk about is how Cotto ran through him. We all saw the fight and heard you the first 18 times.

haha, good points. Lederman was also full of shit scoring williams to win. way off. i thought the official judges scored it right, which i dont think ive said in my life

Quintana fought great. he did exactly what he needed to. in regards to williams, i dont know what his problem was, he didnt look right from the start and you're exactly right, he didnt use his height advantage.

good fight and huge upset. quintana was a 8-1 underdog

Thats exactly what I've been waiting for. This fight only confirmed my doubts about Williams. He has little to no power and wouldn't stand a chance against most of the top welters out there. I'd pick Berto, Zab, Mosley, Cotto, Cintron, even Margarito in a rematch, against Williams slap hands.

Quintana did a great job of staying away from those lanky arm punches, and landed the left hand A LOT, but He needs to work on his STAMINA, dude looked gassed after the 6th. And yes Kellerman was being a hoe by tryin to steal Carlos' shine talking about Cotto non stop, especially because after mayweather/Gatti Kellerman said that Cotto wouldn't stand a chance against Floyd, but Hatton would:confused: Yet I think Max as a boxing fan himself is using his podium to promote a Cotto/Mayweather fight.

I still wouldn't pick Cintron over Williams. Cintron has never really showed great boxing skills. He packs a hard punch and we all saw what happened when someone showed they can take his punches and punch him right back. Cintron looked pretty bad against Feliciano in his last fight and if that had been Quintana fighting him that night he would've suffered the same fate that Williams did tonight.

I was very wrong about Paul Williams, i thought he couldnt be fucked with cuz how many punches he threw in a round and he barely punches tonight, kept getting clocked like a dummy. Cotto destroyed this dude thats why max kellerman keeps saying it. Cotto is obviously on another level then these other fighters, Mayweather should really consider taking the fight cuz Cotto has really built his resume and theres noone really else out there for either one of them to fight, ive always been a de la hoya fan but do not want to see a rematch with mayweather.

I know Kellerman kept sayin this shit over and over, but really, this win by Quintana raises Cotto's stock ever more. Look at his last 6 fights:

2007-11-10: Shane Mosley UD
2007-06-09: Zab Judah TKO
2007-03-03: Oktay Urkal TKO
2006-12-02: Carlos Quintana RTD (opponent quit)
2006-06-10: Paul Malignaggi UD
2006-03-04: Gianluca Branco TKO

Those are all big names. I don't think it's really a question who the 2nd best welter is and who should be fighting Mayweather next.
