Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn-
I been biting my tongue long enough.
Allow me to start from the beginning;
Last Tuesday, I left work at 500PM and rode out to BEST BUY to swoop PEOPLES CHAMP.
THEY WERE SOLD OUT.
I too my azz to CIRCUITY CITY.
THEY WERE SOLD OUT.
I finally took my azz to HASTINGS MUSIC/BOOK STORE, where I purchased PEOPLES CHAMP.
Cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool.
((On a side note, the only other time I experienced the SOLD OUT situation is when LYNCH dropped LOADED.))
I don't know how you all run shit with a NEW album, but D-Locc allows the album to S-O-A-K...
The more exposure you allow the music to have to your life adventures the better analysis of the album.
I'm on one.
With the Paul W. album, my listening experience, thus far, included;
-listening to the album at work
-bumpin the album on my drive to OKC, then bumpin the chopped version on the drive bacc
-at the crib through the living room stero system under the influence of two 1MG KLONOPIN tablets and a few MGD'z(that was cooooooool)
-rollin to the strip club
-on the PC right now bumpin the Screw version with a pacc of Budweiser
On to the meat and potatoes;
The song "THEY DON'T KNOW" is a redo without Mike Jones.
Yeaaaa, it was on Chick Magnet.
So what its on both of Paul's albums, I don't see why it shouldn't be.
Let me point this out, this is a widely popular/business practice down here.
You should know that be now if you bumpin South music.
You also see the same practice out in the BAY AREA.
Twista and Kanye did it with "SLOW JAMZ", they both have that song on their albums.
Kanye and Paul both have "DRIVE SLOW" on their new albums.
TRAE and PAUL both have "OH NO" on their old albums.
I don't see the problem with it.
If I make a tracc with LYNCH, he can have it, but best believe I'm puttin that tracc on my album as well.
Also, BUN B is on the redo of "THEY DON'T KNOW", and cuz comes hard.......I personally feel its a much IMPROVED tracc with Paul and BUN.
The whole gripe about the tracc "THEY DON'T KNOW", is pitty, its minor, next to nothing--------------------------to me.
BUN B wreccd that shit and the tracc rides.
I don't see how one can feel the music on this new album is left over traccz from CHICK MAGNET, from March 2004, 19 longgggg months ago.
Different vibe, harder beats, more mature Paul, etc.,.....just don't see it.
PEOPLES CHAMP, to me, is and sounds like a Swishahouse album.
Let me rephrase that.
This is a PAUL WALL SWISHAHOUSE HOUSE album. I'm glad I don't pick up a Mike Jones vibe from this album, that would be ludacris.
ITS A 100% PAUL WALL, SWISHAHOUSE HOUSE ALBUM.
IT IS WHAT IT IS.
His flow and style is not the same, as J said, listen to GET YA MIND CORRECT.
We hear alot about features, features and features.
AND I FEEEEEEEEEEEEEL YA.....I feel ya!
Are there too many features?-maybe.
But, Paul ain't a new artist tryin to piggy back off of features.
He ain't Gangsta Bill from the Bay, featuring JT the Bigga Figga.
Paul has paid dues, done independent projects, put a few albums out, and chopped/screwed main stream artist albums....etc;
On PEOPLES CHAMP, I hear Paul in complete sync with his features, the traccz slump!
I don't see the features as a negative thing, I just know it
works and it(the album) rides.
If he had only two features on the album, you would have folkz saying he didn't have enough features-so it's whatever.
The CHICK MAGNET comparison, hey pick your favorite-you can do that.
Personally, I dig CHICK MAGNET for what it is and PEOPLES CHAMP for what it is.
IMO some folkz were quicc to speak before they SOAKED the complete "PEOPLE'S CHAMP" experience.
It's taken me this long to even speak on for a reason.
I haven't even soaked the album at it's fullest, but I'm on the right road.
Paul Wall's history has proven that he can HOLD his own.
He don't need Koopa-just as Koopa don't need Paul.
It's a bonus to for us to hear both of them together cause they compliment each others flow/style.
It's a formula that works and has proven to be successful.
Paul holds his own in many different forms of the hustle game.
To quote Paul "I'm a HUSTLER-that raps."
SOAK THAT.
Next-
I didn't go into the store EXPECTING Paul to drop a 5 mic album.
I didn't go into the store EXPECTING Paul to drop an album as the KING OF RHYME.(lyrics)
I didn't go into the store EXPECTING Paul to outshine Koopa in every aspect of the rap/lyrical game.
NEWS FLASH>>>***THAT'S NOT PAUL WALL.
ACT LIKE YO KNOW.
I purchased Paul's album to hear Paul Wall.
I enjoy his music from the past.
I did not have a preconceived bar set in my mind that Paul MUST meet with this album.
I expecting Paul Wall to be Paul Wall and IF he did drop an album with ALL bangers to MY EAR, then that's an added BONUS to my purchase and listening experience.
I say that cause some of you cats appear to have super duper expectations.
How many times in history has an artist actually met ALL of his fans high expectations?
THE SHIT DOESN'T HAPPEN.
An artist CAN'T PLEASE EVERYBODY.
It's too many of us different muthafuccaz.
On the same note, you cats trippin with the comparing of Paul and Koopa's album.
How in the hell do you end up saying that shit??
PAUL WALL IS PAUL WALL WHO DROPZ HIS STYLE OF MUSICC.
KOOPA IS KOOPA WHO DROPS HIS STYLE OF MUISCC.
I LISTEN TO BOTH ARTIST FOR WHAT THEY CAN BRING AS AN INDIVIDUAL.
I don't see how you can listen to Paul's album and say " Koopa's album is going to be harder than Paul's."
THAT SHIT IS RIDICULOUS.
I don't bump Devin's album and say Too Short's album is harder.
I don't bump Raided and say Lynch's album is harder.
I don't bump Scarface and say Big Mike's album is harder.
YOU SHOULD GET THE POINT...
I BUMP EACH ARTIST FOR WHO THEY ARE AND FOR THEIR PARTICULAR STYLE OF MUSICC.
If you feel Koopa is harder than PAUL, then play some gott damn Koopa.
Why you listening to Paul Wall???
I just don't understand that shit.
Anyhow, don't get me twisted, I am not saying this is the greatest album in the history of rap...
but I approach this from a positive, clear mindset and I look at the what the ALBUM IS as opposed to what the ALBUM ISN'T.
It's too easy to approach things from a negative perspective.
D-Locc on one.
------------------------------------------
To me, the following traccz ride hard-
# tracc
1. 36 mafia
2. Don't know/Bun B..........BUN B wreccd this
3. Ridin dirty.....................cool pimp vibe tracc
5. Diamonds/TI.................tight beat, tight flows....tracc rides, personal favorite
6. Smooth Operator............this is Paul..................tracc rides
7. Sidewayz.......................of course this is tight
8. Internet Nutz..................cool tracc, but to me, the chorus is annoying
9. Trill................................tracc rides with BUN B and BG, its coool
10. Sippin the Barre.............by far one of the harder beats and tight flow on the album....my personal favorite, gotdamn it's southern sicc!!!!!
11. Drive Slow.......................you know this tracc ridez
12. March/Lil Wayne..............tracc ridez, cooool
15. Ballin..............................another personal favorite, ridez hard
that's me right there.
I do have one complaint.
Why in the hell did Watts not screw "SIPPIN' THA BARRE"?
PEOPLE'S CHAMP IS PAUL WALL AND THATS WHAT I EXPECTED IT TO BE.
I got my money's worth and the album rides.
"PEOPLE'S CHAMP" is cooooooool.
I don't need to rate it...
INVEST IN MORE S-O-A-K TIME IF YOU LACCIN...
60 cents
100
D-Locc
