Matt Millen didn't join the Niners until later. John Elway got there but Lost. Lott was a rookie in the first Super Bowl. Marino was a good passer ,nothing more. You could have put any QB on the Ravens that year. That was more about defense than offense. Give it up to Joe. You confusing having a strong arm for being a better quarterback. Ryan Leaf could throw further than Joe, is he a better QB... Elway equals no bowl rings with out terrell, give it up. Elway is no better than any other QB who got to the game and lost. Nobody remembers who came in second, only first.
Steve Young more than anybody inherited a good team and could never get over the hump, yet he gets more props. He won one Super Bowl and take Ricky Watters away from that and ya got a loss to San Diego. Joe came to the League in 79, to a horrible SF team and turned the team around, along with a budding young defense. Rice didn't even come into the league until 85. So Joe won two Rings before Rice or Taylor ever showed up. Freddie Solomon dropped the first pass in the Super Bowl. No Rice in site. Even Niner haters gotta respect that. Mark Duper and Mark Clayton were all stars before the Rice era. Yet no ring. I'd take Moon over Marino any day...

Elway never had a squad like Joe Montana did. Elway got Denver to three Super Bowl without a running game and weapons that Joe Had. With the game on the line I'd take Elway no doubt.

But Tony Dorsett was through. He was at the end of his career when he came to Denver so he didn't make much of an impact. John never had a running game to fall back on when his teams made it to the super bowl. That's why they always got drug. Teams would just blitz and tee off on John. The man played in five super bowls. Plus he didn't get a chance to play in the west coast system until Mike Shanahan became head coach. When Terrell and Mike arrived so did two superbowls. Joe already had weapons and a bomb head coach who called the plays. They had an o-line to give him protection, running back, and he had Dwight Clarke early on and then Jerry and John Taylor came aboard.

Mayne if Denver had a hot defense his team wouldn't have given up 55 points to the 49ers. And another time they got blew out by Washington and their running back just ran through that defense. Everybody wanted to put the blame on John which isn't fair because he didn't play defense. John didn't have the squad that Joe had early in his career.

You forgetting somethin. Joe was the squad until Roger showed up. Joe had a garbage rookie season, and put the team on his back in the 81-82 season. They had no squad until around 83-84. Dwight was no factor until the Immaculate catch. Steve Largent was a better wide out than Dwight was. Joe doesn't get credit for the things he did. We almost lost the first super bowl against Cincy except Joe kept us in the game. We had Wendell Tyler who fumbled more than any running back in the game then. I don't take nuthin away from John. At least he got his boys to the game. But Joe was a winner. Joe didn't have the arm John had. Joe was just a smarter player. Joe didn't know nuthin about the West Coast offense, He is the one who invented the West coast style everyone is using now. Walsh created the plays and coached the Niners before Joe was even out of college and those plays never worked until Joe. The West Coast offense is built around what Joe created with the plays they used. I'd take Joe every time. His team was built around him. Who knew comin out of Mississippi Valley, a small college Rice would do the things he did... He had Joe to make him who he is.

give wendell tyler some credit.....that 84-85 season when they one that 2nd superbowl he did have more than 1,200 yards on the ground(at the time a niners team record).....damn exciting to watch....craig was was still playing fullback then and they only switched him to running back after tyler tore up his knees the following season.......

Wendell was a dope Running Back. But he fumbled the ball like nobody's business. That's why they don't mention him with the best.
