^^Yeah, it aint no punk, that's for sure. Mike Dean gave me some pointers on that ATC a while ago. I am rearraging now. Getting a controller and some racks. Been wanting to get with ATC for a while now. But at the same time messin with VSTi. AYE 50 Cal , If you wanna mess around with creating some synths try this program out. You basically creating your own gear from scratch. Add and tweak as many oscillators, amps, filters as you wish. You can also save the presets and patches and export them to external hardware.

Before:

After:

That's the example that comes with it. You can create custom knobs ,images and put your own label/logo on it. package that bitch up and slap a price tag on it.

First of all the studio electronics company started when the mini moog was around.the moog didnt have midi.So they made a conversion of the moog called the midimoog..it was a mini moog the converted in a rack and they added midi.As you know the original moog and similar synths had all the knobs but you couldnt save a patch. So Studio electronics made the SE1 wich dre, battlecat, etc still use today. They basically hand built a rack unit with same components of a moog the se1 has all the same knobs as moog, and it comes with patches, and you can save patches..it comes with the mini filter and i think oberheim(yeah they was converting oberheims,prophets,tr808 to midi)...today they have the se1x...but you can find original for about800 and for about 350 upgrade to se1x wich you save alot.Just like the atc vs atcx you asked in those and the se1 vs. se1x the differences arent drastic..just add on to original design with minor add ons and new patches.....The atc has that membrane on the front you have to press a membrane button then dial to adjust se1 has all knobs...but you can hook up a midi controller with knobs and set so you can use controllers knobs....to end all confusion as i ramble....I would get any one of these they also have an omega series...each series has its own sound but these machines are considered cream of the crop..its 100% analog and you dont here of complaints..except for those that sold them and want one back....Fredwreck as well uses the atc..I know you gonna hear some reason budget using...say its not what ya have but what you put in it....that is true...but you cant make one of these sound like shit..that what i hear over and over...people trying..You cant compare someone who is a genius makin beats with reason to a horrible beatmaker using the atc,se1,omega...cause the non beatmaker cant make beats...but that same one using reason if he used the atc..he would notice a big difference
moog is the shit i aint gonna lie... but i met bob moog at that convention they had last year up in the bay...he said that reason has moog samples and you can find samples for anything on reason... the only difference is that that moog is analog while reason is digital... which is a difference but not big enough for the average ear to hear... what's the big difference is that these cats like dre.. quik... fredwreck... are using ssl's and pre-amps to record theyre shit on.. which is all analog...

oh this is hardware,se those holes around each corner so it can be in a rack?its a mono synth..Its an analog beast,if you like them battlecat bass lines...this is it...its also great for leads and sounds....Being its mono you cant play chords. It can only play one sound in a song when sequenced...so its a luxury item...but to me worth it...however if you can record as many tracks if you record them individually like ya do vocals ..live...this is the newer version called the atcx...I know cat used the original...wich is the pic under my name...Those can be found for around $400..i know quik uses both the older one and newer one,dr dre uses them, rodney jerkins, babyface etc..

Cool dog, yeah I noticed that hardware rack look with the holes for mounting, but I've also seen many VSTs with that same exact realistic rack mount look. I just thought it was a VST because it looks all colorfull and I can't see any knobs popping out, it looks like a flat image.

But by what your saying about it, it does seem nice.

Have any of you guys messed with this?

It's the "MiniMoog V" VSTi by Arturia. I've been using it for a while and it's definitely pretty nice sounding.

i heard its pretty cool^^..probably one of the better ones out there,as far as how close..i aint sure

I ain't sure how close it is either in terms of emulation to a real hardware minimoog synth, but I will say that it does sound real nice.

There's also the FREEWARE "MiniMoog VA" here:
http://glenstegner.com/softsynths.html

It was made with SynthEdit, but I ain't sure how good it sounds because I haven't tried it. But I have heard that's it's pretty good for a freebie.
