Well not sure about black "gangsta's," to my knowledge they usually stick to the 70's but Cholo's listen to them because it's part of our culture. And many of those popular songs have spanish covers and when you're little you're bound to listen to them in either spanish or english.

Mom listened to Oldies even though she did'nt understand them. She grew up in Salinas so all her primos listened to it. She had some in Spanish that were translated into English or vice versa. So I heard them while growing up.
Next thing you know I was all into them too.
Damn those oldies do bring lots of memories when I'd be messing around with chicks left and right.

How can you state that oldies/old school is boring or a nuisance, when BOTH of the artists you named above sample older beats in many of their songs...and you're on a Norteno board, where a lot of the northern tracks have old school/oldies sound or samples....

There's no way you could NOT like oldies/old school... where you think hip hop/rap CAME from??

That's not necessarily why he doesn't like oldies. i grew up on rap also but I love oldies. And thanks to Chango cuz I just heard that song "agony and ecstacy" and I can't get enough of it!
