lol, why are you guys posting the same tapes that were already posted? If people don't have anything to contribute then just let this thread die folks. No point in upping if you don't have anything to say.

Dinerral (of the Hot 8 Brass band ) Killed
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two New Orleans men were shot to death in separate incidents Thursday, including a man slain while driving through Mid-City with his wife and two children, a police spokesman said.

Dinerral Shavers, 25, died from a single gunshot wound to the back of the head at about 5:30 p.m. while behind the wheel of his black Chevrolet Malibu in the 2200 block of Dumaine Street, said police.

His family was not injured in the shooting, said Sgt. Carlton Lewis.

“They’re a little traumatized but physically” are safe, Lewis said at Dumaine and Broad Street steps away from the Malibu, which had several shattered windows.

Although critically wounded by the bullet, Shavers continued driving his car four blocks up Dumaine before stopping.

By 6 p.m., Shavers lay motionless on his back in the middle of the street just outside the open driver’s side door as red and green holiday lights blinked rapidly on homes behind him, and a few patrons of the Magnolia Meat Market at the corner looked on.

Shavers was taken to a local hospital, but died within an hour, police said.

On July 9, Shavers had appeared at Orleans Parish Criminal District Court, having been booked with aggravated assault, simple battery and extortion. But prosecutors chose not to charge him and the case was dropped within one month, court records show.

Detectives canvassed a four-block area around Dumaine Street but had no suspects or motives Thursday evening.

Earlier Thursday, a man was shot dead, also while driving his car, in the Little Woods section of eastern New Orleans, police said.

The victim leaves behind a woman nine months pregnant with his daughter, a family friend said..

Teen held in slaying of drummer

A suspect has been arrested for the killing of Hot 8 Brass Band snare drummer Dinerral Shavers. Apparently the intended target was his 15-year-old stepson.

David Bonds, 17, is accused of fatally shooting Dinerral Shavers, 25, a snare drummer for the Hot 8 Brass Band and a band teacher at L.E. Rabouin High School.

Bonds, who gave his address as 1922 Dumaine St., a house where police said they had handled drug violation investigations on more than one occasion, was booked with one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder.

The nickname "Head," which police got from witnesses at the scene of the slaying, led to Bonds' arrest at the Dumaine Street address about noon Friday, said Lt. Joe Meisch, commander of the NOPD homicide division.

Police said what apparently was a feud between Bonds and Shavers' 15-year-old stepson sparked the shooting, and that Shavers was an unintended victim.

At the center of the feud may have been resentment for "Uptowners," such as Shavers' stepson, moving into territory of the "Govs," short for Gov. Nicholls Street, a name adapted by teens from that neighborhood.

The feud, police sources said, may have spilled over into John McDonogh School and a club near South Claiborne and Tulane avenues.
