exactly. you cant have a special police union that works differently. unions only care about their own kind. they only do good for their workers, and everybody on the outside pays the price.
Tell that to SEIU 32BJ....they constantly fight for workers not in their union to get increased wages so that everybody across the board will benefit and society as a whole will have better working conditions.
When unions increase wages and benefits for union members, it indirectly increases wages and benefits for non-union members as well. Our income disparity in the US started growing at the same time unions started to decline (70s).
Saying unions aren't needed anymore is insane. Without unions, supervisers hire and fire with impunity. They commit racist hiring decisions. They pit people against each other. They keep wages low. They don't provide healthcare or benefits or unemployment or vacation days or health & welfare. They don't give retirement or pensions. They treat people like slaves. They fire pregnant women. Yeah, some states have some laws that help some people, but the fight isn't close to over yet.
We have the biggest income disparity in the United States since the great depression, and you think that workers rights are taken care of and we don't need unions anymore? That's insane.
