Are any of you guys using Blockbusters mail service? I'm wondering how their streaming service is. I understand Netflix is saying they have about 4000 titles and Blockbuster is saying they have 3300... I'm just curious what the selection is like compared to Netflix in reference to the actual titles.

Blockbuster is now offering a games service with the movie service for 9 bucks and I'm seriously considering either switching over or using both. Do any of you have experience with the Blockbuster plan?

I'm talking about their mail service... not the store.

For the same price as Netflix, Blockbuster is offering movies AND games. To me, it sounds like Blockbuster trumps Netflix.

i know, i dont like to stay on topic. i just went on the BB website, you can do a free trial. but they have 2 plans, 1 looks like just movies by mail and the other is probably movies by mail and streaming. but a few dollars more than netflix for games isnt bad.

I think I'm going to just use both and have Netflix be for movies and Blockbuster be for games. Even at 20 bucks a month total, that's cheaper than the 17 or so that Gamefly wants.

Blockbuster tryin to compete with Redbox now. They have their own machine, replaced the DVDPlay ones with theirs in all the Dominicks now. They should been done all these things awhile ago, sounds like they're playing catch up. I walk past actual BB stores and it looks like they have like 50 of the same titles, mainly all new releases. Ugh.

I don't understand why people use Redbox. Netflix is obviously the best way to go. You have mostly unlimited choices, instant streaming, and it's 9 bucks. You're not going to watch 9 movies in a month? Well then go to the library. They have new release dvd's for free. LoL.

Fuck it my library lends out PS3, 360, Wii, and PS2 games now.

I heard Blockbuster fucks up alot and sends the wrong games and shit. This is what I heard though, no personal experience. If it worked well it's definitely a way better deal than gamefly and even probably Netflix. Also the blockbuster one comes with Blu Rays for no extra charge unlike Netflix.

my boy had blockbuster for 2 years when i lived with him.....
alot of the discs are damaged and wont burn for shit, and takes about twice as long through the mail. where as netflix is about a 2 day turnaround and they give a disc for your ps3/xbox/wii for streaming movies which is fucking awesome i mean that disc is worth the 14 bucks a month in itself.....not to mention i rarely get a damaged disc, but if i do they send it right away same way they do they the disc u want isnt at the closet warehouse......

Netflix for the win!!!

i'd probably use redbox if i didnt download movies. they have the new releases and you get it right there. how much is it? like $1.50 or something? so you dont have to wait for the movie in the mail and its like 1/2 the price of blockbuster.

Yeah but it takes a whole 2 days for Netflix to get a movie to you. Unless you're getting paid for dvd reviews and not getting the shits for free you can probably wait a day and watch something else in the meantime.

I really use Netflix for the streaming shit and get most of my new releases from the library, believe it or not.
There is still libraries?
Yes. Only your local library might be labeled "Liberry" so people from town know what it is.

Anyway, I don't mind dl'n a movie but I'll base a buy or rent of a physical disc on whether or not the features are there. I'm a commentary dork. In fact if there's a movie that I don't give a fuck about laying around my house, which happens more than you'd think, I'll watch it with commentary on and watch a movie that I'd otherwise never have watched.

I just got Netflix three days ago. I'm in love with instant streaming already. I mean, they have Hey Arnold! and Rocko's Modern Life on there. Greatness.

For nine bucks a month Netflix is the shit. The streaming is a little sketchy. You'll find yourself watching movies that you ordinarily wouldn't watch. As time goes on and they sign deals with more companies, eventually you'll start to see a wider selection, but the 4000 options they have right now aren't too bad.

I just quit working for Blockbuster last week. Dont go for their total access program at all. Its comparable to the catalog netflix offers as their "streaming" packages. The games they offer are pretty much just a collection of ones they decided not to carry in-store. The only real plus side is if you go with the in-store swap programs (but they are obviously more pricey). If you want to try it out, they are doing free 2 week trials right now (should be nation-wide). My main complaint is just the backstock they keep, I know that as an employee every time we tried to even "order" a movie for a customer (unless it was an ancient title) it was rarely "in stock". Just my .02 though.
