its almost 3pm here and its very interesting, I think the whole world is interested in this because the outcome will affect how the rest of the world looks at America (not that most of you give a shit lol).

America is the only place you can loose in popularity, have less votes and still win the Presidency... don't ask me how... it just happens... look at Bush

Anyways, here is what you need to know Aussie:

1. The numbers differ from where you get them because they are projections. Some are AP (associated press), others are from CNN, and some can be from FOX's analysts.

2. The AP projections tend to be more of less accurate. Now assuming these numbers are accurate all Obama needs to win are California, which is going to him, and Florida which has a slightly higher chance of going Democrat than it does Republican. Both would push his count over 270.

3. What the presidential hopefuls are vying for right now are electoral votes. Written in our constitution is a passage that says that states will assign electors and that these electors would vote for president. So the popular vote is meaningless. Electors do not have to vote with the populous. They're free to vote any way they want. They just generally tend to vote with the popular vote of their state.
