Your post is predicated on the idea that this would happen to anyone who ran from the cops, when we all know this happens almost exclusively to black men. All Doe Hubba is saying is that these cops picked an easy target. Do you actually think people would be saying "great job VPD" if they shot a white woman?

The negative stereotypes are in the heads of the VPD and of those who automatically assume the police are justified when they shoot a black male. Could P have avoided this situation by not running from them? Possibly. You're right that most black people are aware that the last thing you do when the police stop you is run. The police are the ones who escalated it into a shitstorm though... they're not excused of shooting someone dead over a broken tail-light.
