Warren the latest to go
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Thursday, March 11th, 2010 at 1:10 pm in Oakland Raiders.

The speculation that defensive tackle Gerard Warren would be cut before he was due a sizable bonus payment has apparently become reality.

Nothing official from the Raiders yet, but the National Football Post and NFL Network are reporting Warren was released Thursday. On his Twitter account this morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Warren was due a $5.925 million option bonus on March 14. Warren was due $755,000 in salary this season.

The Raiders obviously considered that way too much for an on and off tackle who had a career low two sacks.

With the release of both Warren and Greg Ellis, the Raiders have lost two defensive linemen who were part of their regular rotation _ neither of whom was considered particularly stout against the run.

It puts defensive line in play for a high draft pick, and also means Desmond Bryant, who had an impressive rookie year as an undrafted free agent out of Harvard, is in line for a starting spot at tackle alongside Tommy Kelly.

At present, Bryant and Kelly are the only two defensive tackles on the roster, although Richard Seymour moves inside in some defensive packages. William Joseph, who finished the season with the Raiders, is an unrestricted free agent who could probably be re-signed at a moderate price.

AL strikes again...............hope he has big plans in the draft for o-line/d-line

Larry Johnson to visit?
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 at 10:24 am in Oakland Raiders.

Running back Larry Johnson, who finished last season with the Cincinnati Bengals after wearing out his welcome with the Kansas City Chiefs, will visit the Raiders, according to Profootballtalk.com.

Johnson gained 204 yards on 46 carries in seven games with the Bengals. He hasn’t broken 1,000 yards since 2006, the year he carried 416 times, gained 1,789 yards and scored 19 touchdowns _ 17 of them rushing.

In 11 games against the Raiders for the Chiefs (and a 2-carry, 5-yard game last season against Oakland for the Bengals), Johnson has 224 carries, 943 yards and 11 touchdowns with four games of 100 yards or better.

I HOPE NOT..........AL DONT DO IT!!!

If we did sign T.O. at least we know he won't put up with losing every week and he'll let us fans know why we're getting whooped. But who would he replace? I like Murphy, he should be left alone and Schilens is pretty good too. I don't know if we have room for T.O.

Earlier on Thursday, we asked "Will anyone take a chance on T.O.?" It was a rhetorical question. We didn't think it would come to this for Terrell Owens, one of the best receivers of his generation.

Per ESPN Anchorwoman extraordinaire Linda Cohn on Twitter -- we'll have to check, but we believe this is her first link here in NFL Rumor Central -- T.O. could be returning to the Bay Area, this time as a member of the Oakland Raiders. Cohn passes this info along from ESPN's John Clayton.

Well, the Bengals found their WR target in Antonio Bryant, and the Ravens did the same with the trade for Anquan Boldin, so some other team was going to have to step up. But ... the Raiders? How long before he literally throws JaMarcus Russell under the bus? Maybe they're thinking that Owens can teach the young WR corps a thing or two. After all, his preparation and work ethic as it relates to the game are legendary. It's just the off-field chatter and QB feuds that have gotten him a bad rap.

The Football Scientist KC Joyner took to the lab this past week and found that Owens might actually be a nice target in free agency for any of the WR-needy teams:

I hope we do sign T.O....he'll come out and say exactly what everyone else on the team is thinking.....Jamarcus Russell is trash....maybe then Al will have to reconsider his stance....especially if we do get T.O. and Russell stills struggles to complete more than 40% of his passes....

before I didn't want TO... but I dunno... might not be so bad

the young WR's could learn a thing or 2 from him

and although I feel TO is usually does too much, calling out his QB's... I wouldn't mind seeing him bash JR in the media... maybe he can get on Russell and make him step his game up

it's all speculation at this point anyways... so who knows
