I dont understand why Local Producers be tryna charge Anything ova 500 for they beats...Sum cats be coming out Wit tha G pricez...I aint feeling that...

Personally..I think if u gon do it like that, atleast base it on the rapper..For example...if u got a nigga wit no fanbase, no skills, yea...go head...bop em ova tha head...But wouldnt it be smarter..to HELP a GOOD mc out?...im saying...a lot of dudes who be selling they beats for g'z sell em to bamma ass rappers...and then ya beats dont get they due shine...But if u lower ya price, and maybe work out a deal wurr u get a percentage of tha album sales...or even work it out so if homie goes national u still get paid...That would make mo sense to me...But i guess if u in it for tha short run...and not the long haul...U want them dollars up front.....but i aint diggin it

Not even kayne was charging g'z for his beatz when he wuz dealing wit local cats...

Off the top of my head, I can only think of 1 producer oops two from the NW that should/could charge more then a g, Redwine and Bosko, both of them have made hella beats for national acts. And have proved there selves. I would say more so Bosko cause he is known in the NW more then Redwine is.....

Im not sure who your talking about that charges more then a g for a beat, so I cant say if they do or dont deserve a g

Kanye was strugglin' and sellin' his beats for $50 before he hit it big with "H to the Izzo." He's an exception. It's rare for anybody to go from $50 to $50,000 a track overnight.

Alot of cats don't want just anybody rockin' their beats.....they figure that if you're willin' to pay their price then you must have some money behind you and the chances of their work being heard is actually higher than fuckin' with some low budget cats.

Ultimately though....this is a business and I'm tryin' to get paid. I'm not here to "help" every starving, strugglin' artist (remember, I'm one too!) who thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread. If that was the case......I would never make any money because everybody thinks they're hot and the next man thinks he's wack.

Another theory behind chargin' more money is.....it weeds out the idiots. You end up with an upscale exclusive customer base that is *serious* about the business and ain't one of these friday night, freestyle at parties with their friends, rappin' is really just a HOBBY ass clowns. I don't care how "tight" you are.....you can still be a clown. I know hella talented people who are just absolutely full of shit and don't have what it takes to make it this business. TALENT is not the magical key to success......there are other elements like AMBITION, DRIVE and DEDICATION with a dash of SACRIFICE that will be the real factors that get you to that dream. Talent alone WILL NOT get you there. People say everyday how "so and so is wack" and "he's not even that tight"......blah, blah, blah. You know why they're there? Because they have their business right......their mind right and are willing to do whatever it takes to get there regardless of their talent level.

Are you REALLY hungry? I haven't met too many rappers that are REALLY hungry enough to go out there and get it.....and the ones that I have are on my record label!!! HA!

Sorry......I guess I kind of went off. I just wanted to throw a twist in there and give you a different perspective. Peace.

I'm hungry enough to pay 100 or 200 (if its off the hook).....but 500? Shit, i dont know if i'd pay Trackmasters or Just Blaze 500-1000 let alone [insert name here]. Not out the pocket, anyways....

well if you can afford to pay money for a big time producer then you probably have the money to make sure it gets the play it needs, and just for the simple fact that it is a beat from that producer will push the song even more.....and we know you wouldnt pay them that much tadou, i dont even think they would take your money for a beat.

First, I agree with everything D-Sane said and to be honest, he was pretty gentle about it. It could have been much more vicious so keep that in mind.

Now... About exchange points on an album for reduced pricing on beats...

FUCK points on an album if you're not a major name, PERIOD. Points are WORTHLESS unless you are selling atleast hundreds of thousands of units. If you can't afford to buy beats @ say $1000 each then you certainly don't have the kind of money it takes to move those numbers.

Everyone knows if you even agree to deal with small-timers or no-names, GET ALL YOUR MONEY UP FRONT. Do the math, there -IS NO- backend money on those projects. No matter how much these rappers believe in themselves, the odds are stacked so far against them that it makes most business decisions with them, no-brainers.

One last thing, "shine" is something you get when you do a beat and a million, not a few thousand people hear it.

^^ If i recall correctly, D-Sane was selling beats for 100-200 not too long ago, friend. And i would have paid 200 for one of those beats. Now, since you're either unable or unwilling to fill in blanks...........for someone like ME--small town hero, not yet ready to move up to the big[ger] time--500 is a very modest investment, to put it lightly.

If my choices are (/were...not sure what he's chargin now) a D-Sane beat and a new Condenser mic.........or, ONE FunkDaddy beat (with all due respect to him)....i'd be spittin high-quality flames over a Not 2 Sane slump. "Dance With The Devil" might have become "We B Ridin'".

Your issue here is either confusing (or, more likely, purposely contorting) me saying "I would pay 100-200" into "Every single artist should only pay 100-200". -- So you and Bane can continue being condescending all you like, but i was simply taking the other side of the arguement.

it all depends who the artist is, how long they have been in the game and succeeding, and who the producers are.... like some rappers make beats for fun and give em away at real low prices...
or some artists cant afford too much...me and blaise havent been here too long so were tryin to make hot shit with what we got, so then we can put out the skrill for the d-sane, big ice, and whoever else that makes hot beats.

The thing with me is....I have a stockpile of beats that I'm not using. I would rather they be used and heard than to never see the light of day. I also have different pricing levels depending on different factors. Most of my best work goes to my artists.....but I still hold on to some gems for other cats to buy, plus I custom make alot of shit or do remixes (my specialty) all the time.

My pricing is anywhere from $50 to $300 depending on the amount of work I put into it and how hot it is.

What my point is

I think producers but also designers are asking to much for what they ofer.......... i mean im neva gonna pay a 1000 bucks for a beat........becuz its "just" a beat......i think it redicoules ive you sel beats for 200 bucks when youre name isnt that big (and with big i dont mean ya sold 2000 copies).......mayne 200 bucks is 2/3 of my fucking rent a month.......but i aint really tripen becuz i can get lots a shit for free

^^ #1 reason, because so-called "record labels" hardly ever have their shit completely straight. I'd LOVE to see a list of every NW label that has: Soundscan, BDS, Copyrights, Business Liscenses, Publishing and Trademarks ALL set up properly......it'd be a REAL SHORT list.

For too long, bullshit has been equated with the rapper side of the equasion (i.e., Mike Dawg is a Rapper/CEO)......its time for the CEO's and producers to start taking some got damn responsibility.
