i'm saying. anyone that's with the shit can look at anyone else's last.fm profile and their twitter to get an idea of how many people give a fuck that they exist.

for ya'll it's not much/any.

why debate me tho? sometimes when you're wrong you can just admit it. it's fine to admit it, you don't have to defend yourself.
Do you even read my responses? I just asked how last.fm works. You failed to answer it. Instead you tried to throw around some more insults. Grow up.

Yeah, i wouldnt buy music based on the looks. I definitely like logos though, not to pull people in but to just to give people something to recognize.
And that's the problem within the game. Is that mentality...

We should use that focus on the product itself rather than the packaging. It's like wrapping a nice present and it perfectly wrapped, but you open it & there's a piece of shit inside. Or a nice car with all the tricks, but you pop the hood and the thing has no engine.

i disagree gem, you gotta at least put some effort into the graphic design, to the point that it looks somewhat professional and not half assed. if you're going to have graphics they might as well be decent instead of half assed (i;m not saying spend your whole budget on graphics now). especially these days were graphic design software is so accessible.

artists should invest in visuals because their branding should further their image. people buy music based on image. if what you do is more than a hobby, and you hope to take your endeavors as far as they will go, you should invest resources and brand you or your artists visually by utilizing crative talent that will help their audience's perception of them go further.

I can agree to disagree with both of you. Maybe my point being that there are so many albums with tight covers and are not worth a can of Dennison's chili beans.

Here is one of my prime examples and I will say it over and over again. Yes, it's Dr. Dre, but the point being that his music sells itself. And you guy's are right, I'm not saying have a complete trash for a cover, but focus more on the product itself rather than the package. In the end, if the music is truly good, it will sell regardless of the cover.

Like this here, he put more money & time into the music than the cover. In the underground we spend more on the damn covers.

that's not really a good example. when it's all said and done, a firm probably got paid $10,000+ to do that cover, and the label probably had to be convinced over and over again to do something that simple. not to mention they probably started out with 10+ different concepts prior to settling on that one.

branding is very important. choosing the right talent to work with is immensely important regardless of the availability of graphic software. artists/management that take their marketing seriously need to choose the right design team, photographers, video directors etc. to even have a shot at building an image anyone will give a fuck about.

Understood & I won't argue that point. I'm saying let's step it up when crafting the music.

Dr. Dre was already an extremely well established name at that point, it's apples & oranges.
No doubt, but again my point being that the product sells itself which is something we in the underground have yet to reach. And by the sound of a lot of music, we're far from that.

i agree about stepping up the music, the issue at hand is that most artists don't have it in them to ever step up their music to be something people will go out of there way to listen to.

i think most rappers should just quit rapping, or if they "do it for the love," treat it like other people treat their hobbies. you don't see remote controlled airplane enthusiasts bugging people, trying to sell videos of themselves flying RC airplanes in front of raley's. lol. these assholes are fucking up the game for rappers that actually have music and image people would want to buy into, because the common fan thinks that local rappers are the bums they see wearing girbauds begging them to buy a burned CD for $10.
