Barry Switzer was an idiot but he did win a Super Bowl. Cortell has no head coaching expieriance but is a great DC...it would have been a gamble. Erickson is a good coach with the resume to back it up and not affraid to put teams away with the knock out blow. The Niners wont skip a beat and he will earn the players respect. All he has to do is get the ball to Owens and good things will happen!

You can defend his hiring all you want, but he wasn't even the Niners first choice. Everyone else turned down the job, and the other two left didn't want to be a puppet.

I can't believe you honestly believe this was a good choice.....

I think it was a good hire but not my choice in coaches. Erickson is an excellent college coach but because of his short stint in Seattle there are alot people who think he doesnt got what it takes in the NFL. Keep in mind he is inheriting a much better team than he did when he went to Seattle and has more opportunity to be succesful in San Francisco. He will be under alot of pressure to win in the Niner organization but he had the most expirience out of all the other available canidates for the job. We will see how it all plays out this season!
