Aldon Smith suspended by San Francisco 49ers ‘indefinitely’

The San Francisco 49ers made a puzzling decision to play linebacker Aldon Smith, despite reports that he would soon be entering a rehab facility, but they went forward with their plans and announced after the game that their stud defender would not be available for the Thursday night match up against the St. Louis Rams.

According to 49ers CEO Jed York, Smith has been suspended indefinitely.

Another interesting note following the game is that Smith’s locker at Candlestick Park is “completely empty.” according to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com.

Photos that surfaced of Smith’s post-game interviews with the media show that his locker was indeed cleaned and that his name tag was even removed from the locker. This all comes just one day and a half after Smith was arrested on suspicion of DUI and marijuana possession. It was his second DUI arrest in just two years.

Smith is now expected to enter a substance abuse program, but the league could still step in and hand out a suspension of their own.

Our offense doesnt have any weapons any more. Frank the tank is getting old. Kaep is too young. V Davis is a pussy and Bolden is the slowest #1 wr in the league. Our Defense is getting tired. Our coaching schemes are being exposed and teams are prepared to handle us now. We arent shocking anyone. There is no surprises. We have to get our shit together and pray Manningham comes back extremely healthy and crabtree comes back before its too late. Once we get them 2 back things will be different offensively. Until then we are mediocre. I am a Niner fan ALL day, but im also a realist.

I hope Aldon Smith returns sometime this season, I'm not a 9er fan but I'm not that big of a hater either (to where I'd make fun of a player that's in rehab). He's the 49ers defensive leader on the field but his off the field activity really hurt his team. Hopefully he returns in 4 weeks and plays the same way he did before he left. Too much talent to go to waste.

I think Kaep is really missing Crabtree, Manningham, and VD. I think he's playing poorly because the 9ers are missing some key players on their offense. Not to blame injuries but we have to keep it real. It's not just one receiver that they're missing.

But the defense looked like they gave up though. We haven't seen running holes that big against the Niners D in a long time....

There were so many 3 and outs on 49er drives it had to take a toll on the defense. They were dyin out there yesterday.

WTF changed in the offseason to make them completely dismiss the run game yesterday? Gore had 12 for 88 and then we barely see him after that. He was the only guy on Offense who showed up yesterday to work.

It's obvious our defense gets tired look @ the last 2 loses.....we give up the most points in the 4th quarter both games!!!!! Our defense did it's job (for the most part) but unproductive offense is key (too many 3 n out's) to our losses not even gonna bring up penalty issues cuz if our offense was productive I don't think it would be as huge of an issue BUT we still need to fix that!!

I think expectations of kaep were way too high going into this season. After week 1 my boy who's a niners fan was saying kaep and manning were the 2 best qbs in the league. Lmfao
