Boldin Passes on White House Visit
Posted by Taylor Price

Loyalty to the fullest.

Anquan Boldin is not visiting the White House this week with his former club, the Baltimore Ravens. Instead, the new 49ers wide receiver is sticking around in the Bay Area to finish out the final three sessions of OTAs.

Boldin explained through his verified Twitter account.

Young receivers on the roster like fourth-round pick Quinton Patton (pictured right) have learned a great deal from the 11-year veteran receiver already this offseason.

“Since Anquan Boldin’s been out here,” Patton told 49ers.com, “he’s been helping me with my releases.”

The 49ers wideouts will continue to soak up knowledge with Boldin being a solid teammates and bypassing a trip to Washington D.C.

49ers signed RE Justin Smith to a two-year extension through 2015.
Smith was entering the final season of the six-year, $45 million contract he signed in 2008. Expect this extension to kill two birds with one stone; soften his 2013 cap hit and keep Smith in town through his age-36 season. Smith's 2012 late-year effectiveness was sapped by a triceps tear, but he's still one of the game's best 3-4 ends. He graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 1 player at the position in 2011, 2010, and 2009.

49ers signed OC Greg Roman to a two-year contract extension through 2015.
It's well deserved for one of the league's most creative offensive minds, but shouldn't prevent him from bolting for a head-coaching job next offseason. Roman might already be a head man if not for the 49ers' Super Bowl run. Although coach Jim Harbaugh deserves a ton of the credit for San Francisco's ever-evolving, visionary

Justin Smith's two-year extension saves the 49ers $4.27 million in cap room this season.
Interestingly, Smith negotiated this deal without an agent. His $7.5 million 2013 base salary was converted into a $6.56 million signing bonus, a $940,000 base salary with a $500,000 workout bonus, and a $100,000 roster bonus. In 2014, he'll earn $4.55 million and in 2015, he'll receive $2.65 million in salary. Despite Smith's age, it's a very team-friendly deal for arguably the best 3-4 end in football.

Great fucking deal! Justin showing why hes a leader, and taking less money for the good of the team!

Justin Smith's contract extension with the 49ers cleared more than $4 million in salary cap room this season, a source told CSNBayArea.com.

The 49ers are now $6.423 million under the salary cap after Smith's two-year extension through the 2015 season.

this man deserves to be taken care of by the 49ers organization for the rest of his life!

I like that he said "it's not about the money, is where I want to end my career in football"..

that's a real team player right there..
