Yes he can ruin a locker room, but they're only giving him a try out...he's not being signed..

and I'm sure JH will lay down the rules if they decide to sign him..

but remember, JH was also a player himself...so he has better understanding of what players want and can do for the team...

you think Alex Smith is gonna be gone? So who do you think is gonna be the Niners QB next season? Just curious, because all signs point to Alex Smith coming back to SF

All signs? they gave him an offer 2 weeks ago and his agent told Alex Smith to test FA first...

The 49ers could end up with Flynn or Josh Johnson though....shit, they might even give Peyton a shot..

but right now it's all speculations .. by tomorrow or Tuesday we'll see what's up...

I honestly think the 49ers should go after a better QB ... I'm 50/50 on Alex Smith...I just don't believe he can do it again..

everything I've heard... but I don't really follow the Niners that closely, so I may be wrong.

Former Colts QB to throw to Moss on Monday

Say what you will of owner Jed York of the San Francisco 49ers, but you can't deny his execution on his personal Twitter feed.

York teased that free agent wide receiver would be catching passes from an former Colts Pro Bowl quarterback Monday.

"Former Colt Pro Bowl QB throwing for #49ers tomorrow. Just to clarify, Coach Harbaugh is turning into Capt Comeback to throw to Randy Moss," York wrote Sunday.

Jim Harbaugh will be the arm behind the passes going to Moss, a free agent who visited the Saints last week and was said to have an impressive workout after spending the 2011 season on the retirement list.

Moss said he is returning after clearing up a family issue and never intended to remain retired.

The 49ers were led in receptions by Michael Crabtree, who averaged 12.1 yards per catch and had 72 grabs for 874 yards. But no other receiver had more than 20 catches—rookie Kyle Williams—in the run-first offense called by Harbaugh.

The 49ers continue to negotiate with free agent Alex Smith, who won 13 games as the starting quarterback in 2011.

"Yeah, Alex is our guy. That's well-documented," said Harbaugh at the Scouting Combine. "He had a tremendous season. Definitely as a coach, you worry about a lot of things. And when the quarterback's not signed and is a free agent, that leads to some lost sleep. But I'm excited to be back at work, very excited to be here and see what kind of improvement we can make from year 1 to year 2, and I hope all our guys feel the exact same way."

Report: Smith happy with three-year deal 49ers have offered

In an interview with CBS5 reporter Kim Coyle Sunday night, 49ers quarterback Alex Smith said he's happy with the three-year deal offered by the 49ers, that he isn't seeking a longer-term deal and that his representatives and the 49ers are working on the details of the contract. Smith also said on Saturday he was confident a deal would get done with the 49ers. The free agency period begins at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Here's the television version of the interview. Smith does not talk about the length of the contract in it, implying that Coyle also spoke to him off camera.

Also on Sunday The Denver Post speculated that the 49ers, along with the Titans, were two "mystery teams" interested in Peyton Manning and that the 49ers would try to land Manning if their negotiations with Smith continued to drag on. A league source, however, said that the 49ers have been unwavering in their pursuit of Smith, not Manning, and reiterated that a contract offer to Smith is "on the table."

Meanwhile, the quarterback who will be throwing to free-agent receiver Randy Moss today isn't Smith or Colin Kaepernick, who is out of town. Instead, coach Jim Harbaugh will get a good read on Moss's speed and conditioning by throwing to the receiver himself. Team president Jed York had a bit of fun with his followers last night by making a Manning allusion ....

Wrote York in a Tweet: "Former Colt Pro Bowl QB throwing for 49ers tomorrow. Just to clarify, Coach Harbaugh is turning into Capt Comeback to throw to Randy Moss."

Matt Maiocco ‏ @MaioccoCSN

The Randy Moss workout lasted 15 minutes. (Or maybe Jim Harbaugh's arm lasted 15 minutes.) They go inside 49ers building to chat.

Randy Moss remains inside 49ers facility, likely treated to lunch at the team's cafe. Yes, it's much better than typical cafeteria food.
Would be crazy if Moss became a 49er
