looks like VD is getting his new deal.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5559531

Sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that the deal is worth $37 million, making Davis the highest paid tight end in NFL history.

The deal will pay Davis a guaranteed $23 million, sources said.

The tight end entering his fifth NFL season led the team with 78 receptions last year for 965 yards and 13 touchdowns, which tied Antonio Gates' NFL mark for the position. Davis made his first Pro Bowl in 2009 and tied for the league lead in touchdown catches with Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald.

Overall, Davis has 181 receptions for 2,097 yards and 22 touchdowns in his career.

A first-round draft pick in 2006, Davis started eight games as a rookie and has been a regular, when healthy, ever since. He also is a team captain.

Niners had a mandatory players meeting in Santa Clara after the game. I'm sure Singletary got on everyones asses. Hopefully he chewed out Jimmy Raye too.

P Willy - To all the true fans out there. I "we" apologize for today's out come. We gonna be ok. just keep the belief.

"Lowell Cohn of the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat says 49ers quarterback Alex Smith called out coach Mike Singletary and offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye when he said the team wasn't quick enough in making critical decisions or getting plays into the huddle at Seattle in Week 1...."

thats why in these situations smith needs to be ready to call his own play, its not the first time it has happened.

I blame Alex for the inaccurate throws, but Jimmy Raye gets a lot of the blame too. I can imagine his old ass in the box staring at the playbook, squinting his eyes and rubbing his chin stubble trying to figure out what play to choose. He should just let Mike Johnson call the plays from the sideline.

What about all those run calls up the middle for no gain. Can they try some sweeps or something? The same playcalls were made last season for several games and still got the same outcome.

And what about Anthony Dixon, I didn't see him at all. He could've been a better option at the goal line than handing it off to Moran Norris.

because we abandoned the run.

and yeah I agree with you Rich these HB/FB dives are predictable and its not working. Toss, sweep, misdirect anything is better.

I hope they use Westbrook and Gore in splitbacks for the saints game and Dixon gets a few carries

co-sign. I wanted to see Big Dix(no homo) in for the short yard plays. Where was Westbrook too????

The 4th down play on the goal line was a bad throw, but Norris made a horrible play on the ball and attempt to catch it.
