Shit talking aside, the seahawks are the team that worry me the most in the NFC West. I think people are seriously underestimating them. They made a lot of good moves in the draft and Charlie Whitehurst looked really smooth. :hurt:
and I agree with that.....they seem to have a solid D and O...

but what's up with lots of Niners players being hurt tho?

I hope we don't have this kind of problem in the regular season..

although our 2nd and 3rd stringers look good to play just in case...

I wasn't talking shit really, your boy WE*BUST*KAPS posted that in the Seahawk thread. I agree with you about what your saying, I can see Whitehurst taking over the starting job next season. I dont think they will keep Hasselback on unless he has a career year this season.

BROWN GUERRERO brought him up first lol Hasselbeck is still our franchise QB, and our o-line is looking nice. Definitely better than last seasons o-line, plus no greg knapp either.

Jones, LaBoy finally return to practice
http://blog.pressdemocrat.com/49ers/2010/08/jones-laboy-finally-return-to-practice.html
Notes and observations from this afternoon's practice in Santa Clara...

• Small miracles: WR Brandon Jones (hamstring) and LB Travis LaBoy (concussion) both returned to the field today. LaBoy had been out since Aug. 5, Jones since Aug. 7. Jones actually stretched it out and beat CB Patrick Stoudamire on a deep route, but couldn't quite pull in a pass from Nate Davis in the end zone.

• Missing work were TE Vernon Davis (knee), WR/KR Kyle Williams (toe), G Chris Patrick (shoulder), LB Brandon Long (knee), CB Will James (ankle), C Eric Heitmann (leg) and LB Ahmad Brooks (lacerated kidney). WR Michael Crabtree (neck) caught balls against air, but retired to the sidelines after that.

• We just can't seem to get ahead of the Joe Nedney mini-saga. No one really noticed he was hurt until he didn't play at Indianapolis. Singletary said today that Nedney has been "a little sore." But there he was during practice, kicking a few field goals on the opposite field. He looked fine.

• Singletary seemed in no rush to make a decision on Williams, who sprained the big toe on his right foot against the Colts. He mentioned Ted Ginn and Dominique Zeigler as his other punt returners, and said, "There are a couple of guys that I think have done it and may get a shot between now and the end of training camp."

• Singletary added that ideally, he'd like to use Ginn as a kickoff returner more than a punt returner.

• Alex Smith's best throw of the day may have been a strike to Ginn down the left sideline, right on target vs. CB Shawntae Spencer's coverage. Ginn made an even better catch later when he reached back to get Smith's throw with one hand. The starting QB was off-target on some passes, but finished with a flourish in simulated 2-minute drill. He completed it with a touchdown throw to WR Jason Hill.

• Alex Boone replaced Anthony Davis briefly at right tackle. Davis consulted with trainer Jeff Ferguson, but whatever the problem was, it sorted itself out quickly.

Yeah should be interesting to see what they do against normal starters. Shit, Coffee looked real good against 2nd and 3rd stringers last year...guess we'll see if Nate Davis can be the future.

From Maiocco's Twitter:

49ers released WR Brandon Jones. Frankly, a little surprised they didn't do it the minute he passed his physical after hamstring strain.

Two Februaries ago, the Scot McCloughan-led Niners guaranteed Jones $5.4 million on a five-year, $16.5 million contract. They got one reception for 18 yards in return. The move does "save" San Francisco from paying Jones' $2.145 million 2010 salary, but he was never going to get that money anyway. Injury prone throughout his career, Jones won't draw interest until he gets healthy. He missed nearly all of camp with a bum hamstring.

What happens if Nate Davis continues to shine against tougher competition the rest of the preseason? Is it possible he could win the starting job over Smith? Either way I am excited. Been waiting to see what he can do.
