LeGarrette Blount disses Niners, joins Titans
Posted by Mike Florio on April 25, 2010 9:16 PM ET
On Saturday, Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount continued his draft slide, passing through rounds four, five, six, and seven.

After we learned the identity of Mr. Irrelevant, Blount agreed to term with the 49ers. But he didn't sign a contract. So he was free to change his mind.

And he did. Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that Blount will instead sign with the Titans.

Of course, until Blount actually put his Herbie Hancock on a contract, he's free to change his mind, again.

Source: LeGarrette Blount to join the Titans

University of Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount has decided to sign a free agent deal with the Tennessee Titans on Monday, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

After going undrafted, Blount had originally agreed to terms with the San Francisco 49ers.

After talking the decision over with his family and Titans coach Jeff Fisher, Blount decided that his best opportunity was in Tennessee.

Per our source, Blount has respectfully explained his decision to 49ers coach Mike Singletary and is on good terms with him.

With the Titans no longer having LenDale White(notes) on the roster, Blount felt like there was a chance for him to provide a power runner behind Pro Bowl runner Chris Johnson.

The 49ers drafted Mississippi State running back Anthony Dixon(notes) in the sixth round and have standout Frank Gore(notes) and Glen Coffee(notes) on the roster.

Blount was suspended for 10 games last season for punching Boise State player Byron Hunt. That incident was preceded by a previous suspension for missing team meetings during the offseason.

He was subsequently reinstated by Oregon coach Chip Kelly after the infamous punch and rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown during a win over rival Oregon State that propelled the Ducks to a Rose Bowl berth.

Blount apologized for the incident and hasn’t been in any further trouble.

Blount took official predraft visits with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Blount ran between 4.53 and 4.55 seconds in the 40-yard dash at his campus Pro Day workout.

The 6-foot-1, 238-pounder rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown during the Senior Bowl game.

As a junior in 2008, Blount rushed for 1,002 yards and 17 touchdowns.

^^^ Gore, Lynch, and Dixion would be the greatest three headed running attack ever seen in football

And to be real I think we could get beast mode for a 4th round pick right now

IT WOULD BE TIGHT IF WE COULD GET LYNCH FROM THE BILLS, IF THEY ARE TRYING TO TRADE OF COURSE
I was thinking I want the Raiders to pick up Lynch... I still kinda do... but he's been to known to get in some shit off the field... and coming back to Oakland where he's from... with all his old homies, could spell out trouble and suspensions from Goodell... wouldn't be much different if he was in SF, considering it's just right across the bridge
