Josh Gordon tests positive for alcohol, faces one-year ban

Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon faces yet another NFL suspension.

PFT’s Mike Florio has confirmed Gordon is in line for a one-year ban for a violation of the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.

A source tells Florio that Gordon tested positive for alcohol. Moreover, a source tells Florio that Gordon’s suspension looks to be a “done deal,” with a reversal of the ban not expected. As Florio notes, Gordon is subject to alcohol testing because of his July 2014 DWI arrest.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported Gordon was set to draw a one-year ban from the league.

If Gordon’s suspension sticks, it’s a major setback for a wonderfully talented player who has already lost 13 games to league- and team-levied suspensions in his NFL career.

Furthermore, the news of Gordon’s potential ban throws his future with the Browns into doubt. At season’s end, coach Mike Pettine said the receiver was “squarely at a crossroads with us.”

The 23-year-old Gordon was suspended for the first 10 games of the 2014 regular season for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. After returning to the lineup, he did not recapture his best form, catching just 24 passes for 303 yards in five games. Making matters worse, Gordon was suspended for the Browns’ season finale at Baltimore for a violation of team rules.

Fifty-two Sundays ago, Gordon was playing the Pro Bowl, the coda to a spectacular second NFL season, one that saw him catch 87 passes for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns in just 14 games.

One year later, it’s fair to wonder whether Gordon’s Cleveland career will soon be over. What’s more, his NFL future is in some question, as he will have to gain reinstatement if banished by the league.

WARREN SAPP ARRESTED FOR PAYING FOR THE PUSSY

12:21 PM PT -- The NFL Network has removed Sapp's bio from the official "On-Air Talent" section of the website.

No word if Sapp has been fired from the Network yet ... but as one source puts it, "It's not looking good."

12:06 PM PT -- A rep for the hotel where Warren was arrested tells TMZ Sports, "we were contacted by the Phoenix Police Dept. today in a matter involving a guest."
"We are cooperating with police as they look into the situation since it is an active investigation. We have no further comment."update-grey-gray-bar
Warren Sapp was arrested in Phoenix this morning for soliciting a prostitute around 7AM ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Sapp was also arrested for assault. We're told Sapp was taken into custody at a hotel in Downtown Phoenix.
The 42-year-old "Dancing with the Stars" alum was booked just a few minutes ago.

Sapp was in Phoenix covering the Super Bowl for the NFL Network.

It's not Warren's first arrest -- he was busted in 2010 for domestic battery, but those charges were eventually dropped. He was also arrested for an alleged domestic battery in Miami in 2014.

As we previously reported, officials made it clear before the Super Bowl they would be cracking down on prostitution.

I really hope so...I absolutely can't stand when there is a 40 yard PI call on 3rd and 25 or some crap. Really is game changing.

NFL VP: Changing PI to 15-yard penalty a possibility

Rams coach and longtime NFL Competition Committee member Jeff Fisher made it clear last week that instant replay will be a major topic of discussion when the committee convenes next week in Naples, Fla.

NFL Media's Judy Battista spoke with Troy Vincent, the NFL's executive vice president for football operations, who explained that the league is receptive to change but is also hesitant to open "Pandora's Box."

"We do understand reviewing what was called on the field," Vincent said. "For a coach to potentially challenge something that was not called, we run the risk of creating fouls. 'Yeah, that was a hold. Yeah, that was an illegal hands to the face.' "

"We saw 12 different proposals on replay, which means it's something we have to look at," Vincent added. "You want to get it right but you could be creating fouls. And long term, if we start here, you just continue adding year in and year out and is that what you want? You don't want to go down the road of opening Pandora's Box and this year it's expanding this and next year it's expanding that."

Defensive pass interference enforcement is a topic to watch in the wake of the Lions' controversial playoff loss to the Cowboys. Vincent suggested an alternate solution to replay that would make PI a 15-yard penalty rather than a spot foul. There's concern that making pass interference reviewable would undermine game officials, who have to make difficult calls in real time.

"We must keep in mind that officials and players are moving at game speed, and those of us who are making decisions on rules have the luxury of slow motion video," Vincent said. "Sometimes game speed and rule changes aren't always compatible."

Giants president John Mara told Battista the proposal with the best chance to pass is allowing review of hits on defenseless receivers. Even that is far from a guarantee, however.

Dez Bryant's horrific 'Ray Rice-style' video set to be released today, career in jeopardy [Report]

UPDATE: Dez Bryant video confirmed by Adam Schefter

UPDATE: Screenshots of the video have been sent to media outlets
drunkaholic707 @drunkaholic707

Incident caught on video allegedly took place at Walmart

Dez Bryant’s entire NFL career could be in jeopardy if the video he allegedly appears in is as bad as it sounds.

The clip of Bryant doing something ‘Ray Rice-worthy’ that has reportedly stalled his contract negations with the Dallas Cowboys, is set for an imminent release.

That’s according to Terez Owens, who are claiming that a “source” has informed them the “incriminating video of Dallas Cowboys superstar receiver Dez Bryant is being released today or tomorrow.”

They say the video is so bad it’s “five times worse than the Ray Rice video and that his “football career is in jeopardy.”

The Cowboys continue to claim that no such video exists but if the rumors are true and the video gets released to the public, it could have a seismic impact on the NFL.

On the back of a season where Ray Rice, Greg Hardy and Adrian Peterson all went through domestic violence cases that resulted in significant spells on the sideline, another such case with Bryant would rock the league.

Per Terez Owens:

According to our source, the Cowboys haven’t done a huge deal with Dez because of concern over the video. Unfortunately Bryant’s team won’t be able to stop the tape from getting out to the public.
Of course Cowboys COO Stephen Jones denies knowledge of such a video. This is going to be a game changer for the Cowboys future.

From Larry Brown Sports:

While we have no idea if the footage actually exists or is a complete fabrication, we do know that a report from several months ago indicated that the Cowboys are concerned about Bryant’s off-field behavior.
The team also had special rules they required him to follow off the field as of last year.

Although nothing has been confirmed as of yet, some dark clouds are forming in the distance that indicate another domestic abuse storm headed to the NFL.
