At this very moment, there are NO teams in the NFC West with a winning record. There is a very good chance that the winner goes in at .500....or even below that.

Now, think of this. A playoff team can have the highest pick of 21st per the NFL rules (I believe). However, a SINGLE game can turn a bottom 10 pick, into a top ten pick, as a team going say 6-7 wins has that chance this year. And lets be honest, there are 3 teams they DESPERATELY need a QB at LEAST.

SO the question is, do you want your team to LIMP into the playoffs, most likely LOSE the first round, and get stuck with a bottom 10 picks. Or, would you rather miss the playoffs, get a HIGHER pick, and hope your team makes the right moves in the offseason?

This question is for ANYONE, its just that the NFCW is living in that reality at the moment.

Are you sure that's how it worked? I thought the only thing that determined the draft order was winning and losing percentages, with the winner and loser of the superbowl automatically having to pick last and second to last in the draft. I didn't know being a division winner affected your spot.

Depends on how deep the draft is expected to be, but as a general rule, I'd say pick.

Definitely rather have the Vikings, for example, get a decent pick this year instead of sneaking into the playoffs (which they're now eliminated from anyway, I believe).

That's what I thought too.

making the playoffs makes guys want to stay and make it a little easier to atrract free agent talent i believe! Its hard enough to convince free agents to choose The bay area as a place to play unless your AL Davis and you let agents rape you on contracts. No one wants to join a franchise that year after year misses the playoffs! Also i think if you keep the main core of a playoff team its something to build on for those guys who have never been there! and fuck a draft pick, thats what fans buy season tickets for. To cheer on their squad with hopes that their squad makes the playoffs and can cause some damage even if "Reality" says otherwise.

bullshit... if the Niners limp into the playoffs with a losing record it's not gonna wanna make guys go to SF and it's not gonna help much to make guys wanna stay in SF

unless the Niners can go on a run and win at least 1 or 2 rounds it makes no difference... you most likely need to fire your head coach... and you have no QB

i agree mandatory we get rid of our head coach and bring in a legit starting QB. still doesnt change my opinion about how making the playoffs will do a alot for a franchises morale. Especially one like ours where we have no sense of direction @ this point.

wow... I was fully expecting your response to include the word "Raidturds"

I had to prop you simply based on the fact you had a mature response

explain which part of my post would give you any indication I smoke crack

are you telling me that if the Niners make the playoffs with a 7-9 record it's gonna make a bunch of players wanna play for the Niners... as opposed to them missing the playoffs with 6-10 record for example

Shit the more I think about it the more it seems like a win-win situation lol. Niners, Rams or Seahawks win the division, host a home playoff game and get a solid pick because of the shitty record it took to win the division.

lol obviously if I had to choose i'd take the draft pick tho.
