i like the album better when i can listen through the whole album at once. always find myself just playing it from the start. not many tracks i go out of my way to listen to,i like the entire experience of this album more i guess. nuttkase hit it on the head for me when he said it was almost pink floyd sounding.love the sound that floyd puts across where they have long melodic drawn out aspects to their music, really makes for a good exp. in my eyes,i like that shit

I absolutely love Wings for Marie/10,000 Days. Especially 10,000 Days...when Maynard starts singing about his mom passing it is really eerie/beautiful. You can hear the pain in his voice.

Plus Jambi...that is the fucking cut. Some people have stated they don't like the repetitive guitaring but I think it sounds dope. I also like how Maynard sings on that song alot...especially at the beginning.

I totally agree with Sicc that it is at it's best though when listend to in its entirety. It flows together so well all the way through.

Okay well I'm about to go through it on one more time before I hit the sack.

Hahahah...I just popped two Xanax's (shut up I'm prescribed them lol) and listend to this cd all the way through...then listend to Aenima. I was loving it.

I liked 10,000 Days right off the bat...but now I fucking LOVE this cd. But that could also be the Xanax talking...I don't think so though.

I made a booklet with lyrics to all the songs while I was bored in class today.. lol. I figured more people than just me would want it. Especially since its hard to understand Maynard on a lot of the Cd...

And i have to say, after reading through the lyrics along with the cd going, I think "Right In Two" has some of the best lyrics of any rock song EVER made. As soon as I realized what the song was talking about, and as soon as i understood the meaning of the whole thing, I was fucking blown away. Im not the type of person really to care 'that' much about song meanings and all that... but when it gets this deep and truthful, and realistic... this is worthy of paying attention to, just like Tool has always been. They are one of the groups i WILL make sure i know every line on an album to. God damn.

tell me if it works, i think it does but this net host is old school..

oh man.. my take on it... is that "its big", haha. Its still growing on me every time i listen to it. I almost crashed my car into a divider today cause I was zoning out so hard on Wings Pt 2. LOL.. then I had to switch the song up one to the Pot and rock that shit out so i wouldnt daze off...

yeah its great. I still wish there wasnt as much filler, and instead be like 2 more epic songs. But today I realized that Intension is cool as hell.. its really chill and laid back.. so i think it has a place in there.

the most negative thought in my head about the whole situation right now is im probably going to be waiting until 2010 for the next album.. fuck!

Thanks so much for the lyrics Psilo.

I am home sick from school (prob. going to call in sick to work too) and I just have been listening to this album over and over again all the way through since like 9am.

With the lyrics it makes so much more sense...Right in Two is like you said is one of the best lyrics I have heard in a song...period. That shit is really deep.

Right now I think just overall feel of a song though that Wings/10,000 Days is my favorite. After that my songs are already switching up on which ones I like more. Jambi is prob. my 2nd favorite song right now.

the most negative thought in my head about the whole situation right now is im probably going to be waiting until 2010 for the next album.. fuck!
Same here homie. This album like every album they have put out makes me want more material from them. Plus you know damn right that Tool most likely has lots of songs that they scrapped that would crap on 99% of the music out these days.

Their contract with with Volcano was up after this album. So who knows maybe we will see a new one sooner if they sign with someone else.

Well, I hadn't listened to the CD for more than a day, and I just got done soakin' it from front to back. I actually listened to Jambi, Wings Part 1 & 2, and The Pot several times during the process. I'm starting to really enjoy the album for what it is. I still wish that Maynard had more of a vocal presence on the album, but I think I will really grow to love this album like the others. I'm definitely with you guys in wanting MORE Tool sooner than later. I fuckin' hope they put out another album within a couple years instead of 5.

Man, I just went back and fuckin' listened to Pushit, Third Eye, Reflection, etc. from their earlier albums, and I've gotta say that there isn't a song on 10,000 Days that fucks with these songs......

EDIT: How do you guys compare this CD to the others now?

I agree with you 100%...but I think you (I mean no offense by this) and some of the others who don't feel it too much are looking for something they have heard in their previous albums to grasp on to.

Jambi and Right in Two though I personally think is up there with some of their best work. Tool will not/could not ever make another Aenima or Lateralus even if they wanted to. I am personally really digging 10,000 Days a lot. It could have used some more singing from Maynard but I don't the lack of it takes away from the album at all.

I think this album might have been something Tool fans always said they wanted, a very personal album from Maynard. But instead of being "cryptic" in his lyrics they are more or less straight forward on this one. The songs on 10,000 Days sound really nothing like anything they have done before (just like all their albums) besides Rosetta Stoned which more or less has a lot elements from their back catalog all mixed into one song.

I know I can't change your feelings on the album Cranky...all I can say is try to forget about the other albums and let 10,000 Days stand on its own. I personally think it fits in perfectly with the rest of the collection.

Yeah, I feel ya Nutt, but I wasn't really doggin' on 10,000 days. I was just assessing its place amongst the others. I like the new album for what it is but I unfortunately don't think it is nearly as amazing as their other work. I'm still extremely pleased with 10,000 days but the bar was set too high by their other work. Maybe my thoughts will change though, who knows......

For sure...I know a lot of people (some personal friends) who out right HATED Lateralus when it first droped. Don't ask me how but they did lol. Now everyone I know besides me and my one friend think Lateralus is their best work (IMO Aenima is.)

Oh don't get me wrong...IMO they are two of the best albums ever. The thing that makes me like Aenima a little more is that the title track is my favorite song ever, of any genre , hands down...and I listen to lots of genres of music.

If you took Aenima off of Aenima I'd like them equally...but Aenima the song gives Aenima the album a slight edge to me.

LMAO......Pushit is probably my favorite song on Aenima.....That song blows my fuckin' wig back everytime I hear it.....the drumming towards the end is extraordinary.......especially starting at about 7:00. I don't know what I love about it, but every time the song gets to that part, I get the chills through the rest of the song.......

While I still know in my mind that Aenima and Lateralus are still Tool's best work (Aenima is the best 'individual song' album, Lateralus is the best 'flowing/conceptually complete' album)... I try not to think of 10,000 Days as being any "less" powerful or quality. When I think about it i usually group it in a different category than the previous albums and i dont like the feeling of comparing it - at least not until a few years pass like Lateralus (which most hardcore tool fans on the tool board back then didnt like for months)

I just think of it as a different kind of music thats for a different kind of mood. I wouldnt listen to it when im in the mood for undertow or opiate or something like that. But to be honest, some of the songs blow me away. "Rosetta Stoned" has somehow risen to one of my top 5 tool songs ever, and the breakdown beginning at 7:00 is sick... but the real section of that song that so many fans are now realizing the power of.. is when maynards vocals come back at 8:40 "Overwhelmed as one would be.. Placed in my position"... i listened to that on a big ass system with crazy bass after smoking, and I think that was probably the most euphoric Tool has ever made me feel just by the music itself. I almost fucking fell over in my place.. haha...

Jambi is awesome.. I still love Vicarious... Wings Pt 2 is epic and such a complete song (but i dont listen to it every time i go through the cd, if i want fast paced shit)... the Pot is my 2nd fave on the cd still... Intension is laid back and has a good tune to it (but once again theres no way i can listen to it every time.).. and Right in Two probably contains the best lyrics ive seen in a Rock song this century, that shit is D E E P.

So now that I lay it all out for myself, I realize that each song is good as hell on their own. Maybe not as intricate as the older singles, but they are still ahead of the competition in the genre. I think if 2 of the fillers were taken out, and 2 medium length songs were added (or 1 huge, HARD one), then the CD would be flawless in its own way, just like Aenima and Lateralus were.

lol look at this... see this is why they are so good imo, because I can look back at my previous post and tell that during that post i still had to think about how i 'really' felt about the new cd. Do i really even know what i truthfully feel? i dont freakin know.. and its been over a month now or so? Damn.

All I can say is I have a 5 CD changer for my home system and it has not left slot #1 since I bought it lol.

One day I was hella pumped up for some odd reason and I seriously played Jambi like 10 times back to back. That is by far my favorite song on the album and is in my top 5 (prob. will be in my top 3 overtime) Tool songs period. But besides Jambi being my favorite and Rosseta Stoned yours, I agree 100% with what you said in both of your posts.

On a side note I can't wait until the release the Vicarious DVD single.

I fuckin' love this CD now. I'm listening to it right now. I finally started to enjoy what it's all about. The other day I drove up into the mountains to go fishing (about an hour and a half drive each way), and I played the CD all the way through round trip, and I fuckin' LOVED IT. I listened to Wings Part 1 and 2 several times, and it kicked my ass. I don't like the segues on the album (lipan conjuring sucks IMO), but the songs are fuckin' sick.....I'm still soakin' the CD though, and I think it will continue to get better. Vicarious is still amazing.....
