But in the time of the NES, SNES it was more balanced out then the later consoles. Which was IMO a bit of a shame though.
And Nintendo has admitted to being wrong about having a majority of their games first party, and not involving anyone else.

All of this news broke out because they're shopping their console around to get games ready for the release.

Uqestion is, if this will be just like the Wii with updated graphics?! Same Wii-mote?

It wouldn't be Nintendo if they wouldn't have another trick up their sleeve...

Az long as they will produce some real games and not only kids stuff anymore like they did for the last two consoles...
C'mon. Resident Evil, Manhunter, Mad World, Metroid, Conduit, Tastunoko vs. Capcom, Muramasa, Monster Hunter, No More Heroes, Red Steele, etc.

Maybe it's because I don't have time to play many video games, but I don't need a new game every couple weeks...

Exactly, plenty of adult oriented games on the Wii. Mad World FTW!!

New details have surfaced from yesterday's reports that Nintendo is set to unveil its newest console, codenamed "Project Cafe."

According to our sources, the new Nintendo controller will feature dual analog sticks in addition to standard d-pad and trigger buttons. It'll mirror a Gamecube controller in general function but not in specific form.

French website 01.net has published additional details (via Develop), that say the touch capable screen on the controller is 6 inches in size, but we were unable to confirm the accuracy of the report. Additional details about the console's hardware specs could also not be confirmed.

Players will actually be able to stream game content to the controller screen from the console. It's unclear at this time what type of content it will be, whether it's full games you can take with you on the go, mini-games or applications.

At E3 in June, our sources also said Nintendo will show first and third party titles at the event, but it's unsure if they'll be playable or only in video form.

Update: Sources now confirm to IGN the new Nintendo controller allows players to stream entire games to the device from the console, saying it's like a miniature television. The screen size on the controller is also confirmed to be six inches in size.

Well the controller integration idea was there, though. Some games had basic map info, some had little VMU characters that gave you clues, and some had health stats. So they apply better handheld technology to it, make it fucking huge with a touchable flat screen, and they're innovative Nintendo, Inc.

The basic analogous principle of this is using my PSP as the controller for my PS3. It's cool, and I'm sure others have thought about it, but the concept itself is a rework of an already used and albeit failed concept from SEGA.

Well it's not like they're Sony who has made a career on taking ideas from other companies(usually Nintendo) and improving them to have a facade of superiority. Nintendo has already pioneered plenty in just the controller department alone. From another site.

1. The first home system (N64) to have 4 player support since the Atari 5200

2. Analog and digital on the same controller (N64)

3. Shoulder buttons (SNES)

4. Memory card socket in controller (N64)

5. Force feedback (N64)

6. A controller where you move with the left hand and shoot with the right (Game and Watch on up!)

7. First party wireless support, and it works (Wavebird)
I wouldn't be so quick to scoff at it because Dreamcast tried to do a similar form of the concept first, over a decade ago. Let's not forget the Japan only Pocketstation which came out the the year after the Dreamcast and was basically the same thing without integrating the device into the controller itself.

^I would call that biting, what Nintendo is doing is more like revisiting/reattempting an idea Sega missed the mark on.

....or trying to perfect what they were going for with this.

Following last week's rumors about Nintendo's alleged new console, a new report suggests that Rockstar Games will be developing titles for the system.

French website 01net, which was also the source of rumors about the new system's controller (and previously had details about the NGP ahead of its release), claims Rockstar is already on board with what it continues to say is codenamed Project Café. Gamekyo added that Grand Theft Auto V (rumored to be in development) could be the game Rockstar brings to the platform, although that appears to be nothing more than speculation based on 01net's report.

Rockstar hasn't traditionally offered much support for Nintendo consoles. GTA: Chinatown Wars started out as a DS title before later being ported to other platforms, and Manhunt 2, Bully: Scholarship Edition, and Rockstar Table Tennis all saw Wii releases. Beyond that, you have to go back to Grand Theft Auto Advance and Smuggler's Run: Warzones to find other Rockstar-developed games on Nintendo platforms.

The Wii has often been criticized for its lack of hardcore games, particularly those created by third-party developers. Getting Rockstar to develop games for its next console would be a huge boon for Nintendo, though it remains to be seen if this is actually the case. 01net reaffirmed that the new system will be revealed in June and, unlike Game Informer's original story, claims it will be released in June 2012.
