anybody who still likes the old games should be excited about this, IMO. from what i've read & seen, this has the potential to easily be the best in the series. & the ironic thing is, their main rival in the old days (street fighter) is who we have to thank for the return to the classic 2D-fighting style.
Confirmed Characters.The game will feature 26 playable characters in addition to an unknown number of downloadable (DLC) characters.
The officially confirmed characters that have been seen in play, thus far, are:
Cyrax
Johnny Cage
Kitana
Kung Lao
Mileena
Nightwolf
Reptile
Scorpion
Sektor
Sub-Zero (confirmed to be the original Sub-Zero by Ig.com)
The characters that have not been seen in play, but have been officially confirmed, thus far, are:
Kano
Raiden
Shang Tsung
Dana Lyn Baron, Sonya's most recent voice actress, confirmed that she lent her voice to the character once again.This, however has yet to be confirmed by any official sources.
Cameo Appearances
Kira and Li Mei are shown chained in Shao Kahn's Arena. (Only in the trailer version)
Tanya is also among those chained seen in Shao Kahn's Arena in her Deception attire.
Daegon is shown fighting Kenshi at a random time and Reiko at a different time in the background of the Pit 2 stage.
Shang Tsung on his throne.
Rain and a Shadow Priest are shown looking over a corpse of some sort on The Cathedral stage.
A broken rock statue of Sindel's head and hand can be seen in the background of the Desert stage lying in the sand
