hey sickwidit, not tryna hate but every album that gets posted u have mostly negative shit to say about it, not that i'm defending this album cause i ain't heard it. but what are some of your favorite recently released albums?
If I make a negative comment about someones album it's because they didn't do their job. They didn't give me something thats undeniable. You have these fuckin' clowns who call it "hating" but thats just the 'offended groupie' in them that's talking. I've been in the business a long time and one thing I've learned is to not bite my tongue be it good or bad. Mutha fuckas will defend music that they know in their gut isn't worth defending because they don't want to look like 'the bad guy' or because of some other silly reason. You can't have any progress when people are intimidated to speak the truth. If the music were really as hot as people pretend it is, why is the westcoast in the gutter? (I got something for those of you who will respond to that question by blaming radio).
If you've followed my comments about music over the time I've been around, you'll see that I compliment good work. I'll compliment a cat if I hear a true & sincere effort. I won't applaud garbage and pretend something is better than it is. I'm too seasoned to do that, I hear the truth in the music.
Just so you know, this is how I listen to an album.... As a company executive, producer, musician, recording & mix engineer, and as a fan of music. To answer your question, what is my favorite most recently released album? I don't have favorites but the most recently released album to satisfy me in all the areas I just listed was Fabolous "Street Dreams".
There's nothing more I would like than to see the west back on top. It's simply not going to happen as long as people are scared to let go of the past. It's like a cat who won a superbowl ring 20 years ago and still talkin' about it long after his career is over. The early 90's bay area sound was crackin' in the early 90's but it's about as hot as a popsicle in 2003 and cats are gonna HAVE TO accept that sooner or later.
I believe part of the reason people refuse to let go of that sound and create something new is because it's beyond what they're capable of. Cats are quick to call themselves artists and but slower then a mutha fucka to do anything artistic. I can't help but to question that.
One last thing... A lot of people do agree with my points and what I say, they just don't necessarily agree with how I say it. While I'll go for the throat, some cats would rather pat you on the back.
