Im building a PC right now using an AMD dual core 4800+ proc. I was gonna buy 4gigs of corsair XMS RAM. Do you think thats overkill, or should I go for it? I want to be sure that Ill always have enough RAM no matter what.

What kind of motherboard ya got?

You have to search the net pimp or search the DUC. I don't know if the problems have yet to be corrected because I am not a mac user. I am concerned with pc's and pc stability. My preference for pc instead of mac has to do with the workflow, price, stability and software availiable. My system is ROCK SOLID, it did not cost me 2 grand, I am able to navigate around the os very effectively and I have a lot of software choices (especially plugins).

Are amd's better than pentiums if u wanna build a PC for music making??? Ive heard that AMDs are good for gaming but i havent heard anything about which is better for makin music...
