Netflix Cancels Qwikster DVD Spin-off & Keeps DVDs with Netflix
Netflix has listened to customers and has decided to cancel the Qwikster DVD spin-off.

“Consumers value the simplicity Netflix has always offered and we respect that,” said Netflix co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings. “There is a difference between moving quickly -- which Netflix has done very well for years -- and moving too fast, which is what we did in this case.”

Update: Here's the offficial email from Netflix (also posted at the official Netflix blog):

Yes. I gave up my Streaming + 1 in favor of $8 streaming only. They can keep their mother fucking DVD's.

The big wigs need to stop making decisions when they're getting a lap dance at Poo Palace. They clearly don't have their minds on the decisions they're making.

This company could fall just because of operator error. They went from the top of the streaming and DVD rental food chain to nearly ruining their entire business in one move.

Fucking morons. The only thing that can redeem them now is replacing the fucking idiot CEO and his qwikster buddy. How they were able to establish a company like Netflix in the first place boggles my fucking mind.

Netflix? hmmm that's weird cuz I use torrents and have never had a price/service change. My monthly fee's have always been $60 via comcast and I have unlimited use all month. LMAO.....

Studio pricing - they charge too much for their films to be streaming

Studios wanting to sell DVD's - waiting periods on new releases, etc

Redbox is not a threat. That's why they were going to do quickster because Redbox and that market isn't even an issue anymore. Netflix sees themselves as beyond that. Pretty much they're right.

I just know that I've never paid for a fucking dvd out of redbox or off of netflix in MY LIFE, and don't plan to. There is a reason why I pay for Comcast, and that's not just to post on siccness. It's so I can get all my TV Shows and MOVIES for next to nothing......

No, not flat out addressing the studio issue was the problem. They raised the price and acted as if their customers were simply waiting on it to happen. What was it, a couple weeks before the price change that they notified people? Sure, they lost a million customers, but for that million they lost, they gained at least $6 more a month from the ones that stayed with their streaming +1 plan.

They DO know what they're doing. Pretending it was their own master plan from the inception is the true problem they face, not the fuckery that they continue to subject on their customers.

People couldn't praise Netflix enough a year ago. Hell, Dateline did a visit with a Netflix center that further won them over to the general public. They need to pull a Toyota and honestly just start churning out commercials about all the good stuff they offer and stop talking about all their fuckup's. It's bad for business.
