The Super Six: Is that really it all finished?

By Rusty Nate: Over the last few years we, the boxing fans, were treated to a first in world boxing. The Super Six Tournament!
It was an amazing yet so simple idea to take 6 of the top Super Middleweights put together a schedule and points system and let them climb all over each other to come out on top as the Worlds Best Super Middleweight and win the title of Super Six Champion.
The fighters in the Super Six were more than willing, they traveled everywhere and they fought each other without the fuss of money splits, venue choice, random blood testing or any other of the common excuses used today in order to snub the biggest fights. The tournament was a great success (as Borat might say). The fighters loved it, the fans loved it and the money generated was huge!
Here’s the problem, now that the Super Six has finished its all gone out the window. Already two of the fighters who contested the final without any problems or issues making the fight happen suddenly have all these demands about who goes where and who gets paid more etc Where di the guys go that just wanted to fight and win without all the moaning and childish whining?
Someone needs to get back to the drawing board and bring back this tournament for the sake of the boxing fans and the sport itself!
I am pretty sure that if you ask any boxing fan they could rattle off 6 top fighters in every division from Lightweight upwards to Heavyweight that make a great follow up to the Super Six, why isn’t this happening!
Welterweight / Light Welterweight alone could boast a super six consisting of the likes of Pacquiao, Marquez, Bradley, Garcia, Matthysse, Khan, Ortiz, Alexander, Rios and even Broner in the coming months. (I didnt include Mayweather because I don’t see him as a tournament kind of guy)
Its just frustrating that such a successful tournament as the Super Six has not been followed up. Prize Fighter in the UK was a great idea for up and coming fighters and old veterans to clash and see who is the best, That’s why the Prize Fighter is still going strong in various weight classes. if it works, keep doing it!
I hope someone has the brains and more importantly the influence to put something together soon. With the current exception of Mayweather and Alvarez I am getting really tired of all the politics and demands surrounding every potential superfight. This tournament took those politics away! Bring it on
