Will NBA Jam accommodate the new free agent signings the league saw in the past week? Yep. The game released three screens today showing Carlos Boozer, Chris Bosh and, yes, LeBron James, all wearing their new threads.

Does this mean Dwyane Wade is out of the Heat roster? Nope, you can see him in all three screens. And it makes sense: Bosh and James are both post players, Wade's a backcourt guy. So LeBron/Wade is likely the default with Bosh as an alternate or unlockable

What, you don't trust the UnterhaltungssoftwareSelbstkontrolle? Then you'll have to take the ESRB's word instead that NBA Jam is headed to the Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3.

The basketball title, which at the moment is only officially bound for the Nintendo Wii, was earlier this month rated by the USK - Germany's ratings board - for the 360 & PS3. Now that America's Entertainment Software Rating Board has done the same, it's looking increasingly likely that EA Sports' remake of the 1993 classic will indeed be made available for Sony and Microsoft's console.

The only question would be, how much longer would we have to wait for these (likely) superior versions? I mean, I applaud EA's attempts to breathe a little life into the third-party Wii software market, but if I have the choice between NBA Jam on the Wii and NBA Jam in high definition with proper online play on the 360 or PS3, I'll take the latter

FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

After months of rumours, EA Sports confirmed today that NBA Jam won't just be released on the Wii, with high definition versions also on the way for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Warning: some bad news follows.

While the game will technically be coming to the PS3 and 360, it won't be available individually. Instead, it'll be included as a downloadable title (via a code) in $60 copies of EA's regular basketball title, NBA Elite.

"We're still holding back the Remix Tour for the Wii consumer, and that's about 20 hours of gameplay," EA Sports' Jordan Edelstein tells ESPN. "But for the PS3 and 360, we want people to try 'Elite'. We feel like 'NBA Elite 11' is a great product and we want people to give it a chance and see all the changes we're making. So as a way to say thanks to these people, we are going to let them experience 'Jam'. It's not the full product, but it's a good portion of it.

"And the only way to play 'Jam' on the 360 and PS3 is by picking up 'Elite'. There's a one-time use code that will be in every copy of 'Elite', so you just go online and redeem it. We're not selling 'Jam' on PSN or Xbox Live. If you still want the full product, the full experience is on the Wii, but if you pick up 'Elite', you're still getting a good taste of it, especially with the inclusion of online play."

"Mr. NBA 2K11" is still noticeably absent from NBA Jam's Eastern Conference roster, which does boast the likes of Bird, Dr. J and Jordan sidekick Scottie Pippen. Even Drazen Petrovic, who is said to haunt the original arcade game and was removed from console versions following his death in a car accident, has been resurrected as a Nets legend. Of course, the new NBA Jam will feature plenty of current players, including the Miami Thrice, when it's released next month for Wii and as a downloadable bonus with new copies of NBA Elite 11 for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Each team has 3–4 active players, as determined by fan voting (with the exception of Gilbert Arenas, who made the cut but was left out of the voting after that handgun fiasco), explains ESPN, which obtained the complete game roster -- the West's stars to be posted next week. Additionally, most teams have a "legend" or two -- or three for the Knicks: Ewing, LJ and Starks (hey, they need help!) -- on hand, with a preference for the original arcade's stars (sorry Zo!). Some teams don't have a long or storied enough history to feature a legend, in which case EA has added the team's mascot to the bench -- or in the Pacers' case (a contractual hiccup with Reggie Miller), there's simply ... Schrempf.

Some late summer trades also contribute to a few oddities in the final rosters, with Courtney Lee (now a Houston Rocket) still on the Nets and Al Harrington (now in Denver) still a Knick. It's unlikely the Wii version will be patched after release, and EA Sports community manager Alain Quinto recently confirmed (in response to the question) that it wouldn't feature online multiplayer either.

Head past the break for the full Eastern Conference breakdown.

Well, it seems like the details regarding the release of the NBA Jam reboot on the 360 and PS3 have changed yet again. EA Sports just announced that its upcoming basketball title, NBA Elite 11, has been delayed beyond its release next month to an undisclosed launch window. You know, NBA Elite 11 -- that game that would come with a download voucher for NBA Jam, serving as "the ONLY way" players could grab Jam on Microsoft or Sony's home consoles? Seems that line's changed too.

The delay announcement also revealed that "we're going to ship NBA Jam as a standalone product on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in time for the holidays. Watch for more news soon on the exact timing of that release." We're going to hound EA to find out more about these plans -- will it be a retail release (the use of the word "ship" certainly seems to indicate as much). If so, will it carry a $60 price tag?

The creative director for NBA Jam has said the Xbox 360 and PS3 version of the game will now have as much of the Wii version's content as possible. Previously, 360/PS3 Jam was to lack the "Remix Tour" mode.

Trey Smith, speaking to the Toronto sports radio station FAN 590, said his development team was caught off guard by last week's last minute postponement of NBA Elite 11 for the PS3 and 360, which would have shipped with a code for a free download of NBA Jam for those two consoles. That version would have featured the same roster as the Wii version, but lacked the "Remix Tour," which features boss battles, unique game modes and other challenges. Remix Tour is estimated to provide about 20 hours of singleplayer and co-operative offline gameplay on the Wii.

Now, EA Sports has said that NBA Jam for the 360 and PS3 will ship by the holidays, but has not specified its price, whether it would be a disc or digital download, or any other details.

"I'll tell you, we're doing everything in our power to get as much on there as possible. I mean, we had online up. It was a really basic online feature set. We're trying to blow that out. And then you get Remix. We're trying to throw it all in there," Smith told FAN 590, according to Nintendo World Report.

Smith said EA Sports Canada is "shuffling to get everything together." He did not specify a release date or whether this would be a retail or download release.

This development would seem to point to a retail disc release and a price commensurate with the Wii title's $49.99 tag. And that, combined with EA Sports' continued full, seasonlong roster update support for last year's NBA Live 10, points squarely to an outright cancellation of NBA Elite 11. EA Sports has yet to announce its plans for that title, only that it is delayed indefinitely
