for the peepz who think nascar is not a sport!

Auto racing is a sport because it is competion betweeen teams on a playing field. The teams have to practice and keep in shape just like most typical sports. The cars are just a tool that is used much like a bat, glove, hockey stick, football uniforms and snow skis. The tool (car) has to be refined and reworked to get the most out of the tool to help the sportsman or player the best advantage or performance possible. Every member on the team must do the best they can to achieve the goal of defeating all the other teams they compete against that day. Their adversities are very similar to a football team as they prepare for competition. The heat which reaches temps of 130 degrees in the car and over 100 on the pit road at many tracks is hotter than most playing fields especially those in arenas with heat and AC. The competition lasts for three to four hours with only a break of less than 10 seconds unless the race is stopped due to damage to a team so severly they have to be removed from the playing field. Even football is not a continuous sport for the players and basketball is littered by many time outs for rest and regrouping.

I would bet my entire life savings on the fact that NONE OF YA'LL fools could control one of those cars past 130mph, let alone control it among a field of 42 other drivers for 500 miles and 3.5 hours.

Anybody can pick up a football, basketball, or baseball and spend the entire day fucking around with it. But it takes a certain type of person to be able to professionally race in NASCAR. Ask half the open-wheel racers who try to make the transition into NASCAR and simply cant fucking do it, because NASCAR really IS a difficult sport.

For all ya'll who say "oh big deal they're just making left turns": I'd like to see you down shift from 186mph to 145mph in order to make a turn and get back up to 186 in three seconds, without losing time or hitting anybody else on the track.

I did the Richard Petty driving experience in Orlando, that shit was one of the funnest things I ever got the opportunity to do.

I'm not real big into the sport (i.e. I dont watch any of the races from start to finish) but I used to be. These days I'm just too busy to set aside that large part of my sunday to watch a race. I'm a Dale Jr. fan though, and although he's been top 5 and top 10 all year he isn't winning any big races. I'm thinking J.J. will win it again this year.

and to be a Nascar fan you have to understand cars and racing. All the haters lack the cognitive abilities to understand at least one of those two things. Fix your A.D.D and quit speaking on a sport you know nothing about, if you don't like it then leave it alone.

johnson stole the show yesterday, what a incredible last 10 laps for johnson. Sure, Edwards won the race, but Johnson and the No. 48 bunch showed why they are the soon to be three-time champions. back to back to back........

ath⋅lete
[ath-leet]
–noun
a person trained or gifted in exercises or contests involving physical agility, stamina, or strength; a participant in a sport, exercise, or game requiring physical skill.

They're not just drivers, they're RACE CAR drivers. And it takes a lot of stamina, physical skill and conditioning to sit in one of those cars for as long as those guys do and race at break-neck speeds.
