yeah, i got that dvd set too, but pac never lived in salinas, ever!!

on the MTV subject........... you gotta understand, it's a game. It's not what you know, it's who you know, BET didn't use to be like that, rap city used to play real shit, that was my favorite show, especially in like 95 and 96, but now they are commercial too. Record label heads speak to the heads of MTV and BET and decide which videos should be on. i have heard you have to pay to get your videos played at all, on either channel. it's a form of advertising, just like a commercial. CMC used to be siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick, it was the califonians, but now it's bullshit too. i think a lot of people really think that big tigger decides what he wants to see and shit like that, the top 10 and 20 lists are rigged too. i guarantee if woodie put out a video, and the whole damn west coast requested it, it wouldn't play on MTV. don't get your panties in a bunch, MTV ain't for listeners and supporters like us. it's a money game, and 100,000 units sold indepent is chump change to them, regardless if there is a huge buzz for the underground

and need i say, radio stations work the same way!!!!! they are told what to play, some radio station dj's have the choice, but for the most part, especially at prime listening times, you gonna hear the same shit over and over til you know the words. Just face the fact that shit ain't gonna change and keep supporting the underground. i hear you people complaining on how bad jay-z, nas, the diplomats, and shit are, but i bet that you have bought an album from them. a lot of people hate riding in my car cause they never hear shit they know, the average consumer just wants to hear some catchy shit, but i need it to be real or i won't bump it, so you will never hear some radio shit in my car with the exception of lil jon and the east side boyz, they have managed to break through. just keep supporting the underground, that's all you can do cause your 15 dollars that you have in your pocket to spend on a cd ain't gonna change the world, but it could make you a statistic

and oh yeah, JAY Z does spit real shit, not on the videos, but he does spit real hood shit, on the other hand, his delivery is miserable to me, i can't get with it at all. he has this song i think it's called moses and guns or something like that, a homeboy of mine was listenin to it, that shit was gritty and slappin, but i wouldn't buy a jay z cd. his reasonable doubt cd is worth coppin though, i will say that

A COUPLE STATION DJ'S TOLD ME THEY WANTED TO PLAY MY "RADIO CUT" BUT IT WASN'T UP TO THEM...THEY CAN LOSE THEIR JOBS IF THEY PLAY A SONG THAT'S NOT ON THE "PLAY LIST"....SOME DJ'S GET TO PLAY WHAT THEY WANT BUT ONLY IF THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR GIVES THE OK.....AND YES BIG LABELS PROMISE FREE PERFORMANCES FOR HEAVY ROTATION OR GIVE "DONATIONS" TO THE STATION FOR HEAVY PLAY...T.V AND RADIO ARE BOTH CONTROLED BY PEOPLE WHO CAN GIVE A SHIT ABOUT GOOD MUSIC OR THE ARTISTS WHO STRUGGLE TO PUT IT OUT....IT'S ALL $$$$$ TO EM....PERIOD.

i just realized how easy it is to brainwash hoes, i didn't realize it before, but i have done some brainwashin myself....haha peep the metaphor but nah, young hoes have a low attention span for music, if the beat is knockin and the hook is catchy, they a buy it, as for us, we lookin deep into the lyrics, but if i do put it down in rap.....i will not sell out for the big dollars, i got shit on my chest that needs to be heard, and if only 50,000 people hear it, so be it

i hear you, but money don't mean shit to me, like i have said before, money means nothing to me, i have no problem working a normal ass job leading my normal ass life, no problem. You are right, i am not on cd's at this point, but greed will kill us all homeboy. after you have all the money, your life ain't your life anymore, you are a puppet, at least that's how i see it. i like to be the one callin shots in my life, fuck trl and roc a fella both, regardless if i have shit to say, it ain't me. not to knock you for wanting that at all, but that just ain't me. i really do want to be able to go to the store and get diapers for my kid without being mobbed at the store, and without the jealous ones tryna shoot me just for that reason. maybe it's a dream or something, but it's my dream to always be underground unless i have a hand in another project in a different style of music like R&B or smooth jazz on the production tip, but as far as rap goes, If i never sell a single cd, once i start sellin em, outside the state of cali, i'll be okay with that, and i put that on everything homie

^^^ thats all coo and shit...i can hear what your sayin..my point of view is just on some other shit..we all got our own wants and needs..but honestly..how can u say fuck roc-a-fella?...have u had personal encounters that cause you to hate them? or is it just becuz they make music that doesnt appeal to you?..if thats the case..the word hater does come to mind..i dont scream fuck any mainstream lable..cuz there doin shit..there makin millions off what they love..wether or not its my kind of shit..i cant knock any mans hustle..wether hes ballin off slangin dope..or slangin music..

and i doubt you would be like "fuck roc a fella ..if u stepped into a room with beanie segal or damon dash..etc....
maybe u would..but i really dont see it happenin..regardless i can respect your side of the argument(discussion) becuz i know alot of folks who feel that way..in all honesty i really dont think i could even see myself on mtv..or on tour with bad boy ..etc...cuz thats alot of hard work and respondsibility believe it or not..but shit..i can respect those who do it just the same

i respect their hustle, if it is truly what they love, i can't really knock someone for makin millions on what they love. I am not dumb enough to walk in a room with all 15 or however many of them that there are and say fuck roc a fella, i may aswell run in there and scream white power or some shit. but face to face with any one of them, i would say i don't have respect for what they are doing cause i feel a lot of that shit has gone so soft, like i said, the first jay album is worth coppin, and beanie is hard with his, but outside of that, they are weeeeeeeeeeeeeak. this could go on for days, you and i see each other's point, so let's leave it at that. believe me tho, i would love to have millions and all that, but not if it means doin what a lot of these record labels have done to get it, that's just me

"MAKIN' G'S SOUNDS APPEALING, BUT THE MONEY COMES AND GOES. SO I STAY CLOSE TO MY HOMIES, QUICK TO TALK SHIT TO THESE HOES."

YEAH, THATS SOME REAL SHIT. I AINT REALLY FEELIN' ALOT OF ALL THEM LABELS, BUT I WAS WATCHING THIS THING ON VH1 AND THEY DONT EVEN MAKE MOST OF THEIR MONEY FROM MUSIC. THEY SAID THE "SEAN JOHN" EMPIRE IS WORTH $500 MILLION. ROC-A-FELLA EVEN HAVE THEIR OWN VODKA, ROCA WEAR, AND NO TELLIN WHAT ELSE. I REALLY FEEL UNDERGROUND SHIT CUZ IT HITS HOME. I CANT RELATE TO RIDIN' IN BENTLEYS OR ANY OF THE HIGH LIFE TYPE SHIT. WHENEVER I HEAR SOME SHIT LIKE WHAT WOODIE SAID ABOVE, THATS SOME REAL SHIT THAT I CAN RELATE TOO. "BRUCE LEES SAVED ME CHEESE, BUT IM STILL DRINKIN' OLD ENGLISH." MAN, I CANT JUST THINK OF ANYTHING THAT ANY MAINSTREAM RAP ARTIST HAS SPIT OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD THAT REALLY HITS ME LIKE THAT. "GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN'" THE NAME OF 50'S NEW CD. IT AINT ALL ABOUT THAT. ITS ABOUT BEIN REAL. BUT IF CASH RULES EVERYTHING AROUND YOU, YOU GOT ANOTHER THING COMIN' IN THE END. OR TO ANYBODY.

besides the money aint all that its cracced up ta be....most artists on major labels get fucced and dont make a whole lot of money unless they are part owners on that label....

Say you sign with Roc-A-Fella for a 1 million dollaz + a percentage of royalties....and they pay you like 100 g's up front.....now they record ya record and they say ok....well it cost us 250,000 to pay producers/artist to make that album so minus that.....
now you need a dope video wit all the hoes and cool effex and the best video producer/director...another 250,000......now ya record done and the video showin on BET & MTV...but its gonna cost you another 100,000 to press up ya CD......now you left wit 300,000 g;s thas supposedly yours...but wait....you have to pay a publicist...and a manager...and a bunch of other mafuccaz to do various jobs for you...and oh yeah you have ta pay Benzino a good 50 g's ta guarentee a good review in the Source....so lets say you got 100,000 left....and you already spent that first 100 payin off ya bills.... down payment on an expensive home, and some new wheels....so where are you left at??? well ya album is sellin goin platinum...but its months before you will see the profits and even then you only gonna see a small percentage cuz jay z & damon gotta get paid.....you need ta repress ya album.....you have even bigger bills now cuz you livin large and smokin bomb all day and partyin wit hoes poppin Crystal at the club...so you must now go on a 60 shows in 70 nights tour ta make some money.....and the partyin is gettin old....your tired.....but you must keep goin or ya lose ya house and car(s).....

i guess if thas the type of life ya want its all gravy...im coo....you can keep it real & be ya own boss independant.....stay underground and still be in about the same position...workin ta keep ya house and car....without the extra stress......Ced Singleton said when he signed Back Market to priority he had ta sell 50,000 units in order to make the same profit he made sellin 5,000 independently.....

this is the reason JayZ, Master P and all these cats have ownership in the labels and why they have moved on to clothing and real estate......

i been peeping murder dog for years, since they had the big ass newspaper pages. that's where i first heard of woodie, they had an album review for Yoc influenced. i have heard of many artists for the first time cause of that mag

@ mtown, i heard this mac dre song that said exactly how i feel about what we were talkin about yesterday..................."REAL BEFORE RAPPIN, RESPECT BEFORE SUCCESS..." that's on that i've been down song from rapper gone bad.

@balhead, i think nas is a good lyricist, but i think his stories of hood life don't sound real enough to me, just how i feel about it. it sounds like shit that he heard from someone else and tried to pawn it off as his own stories. i hated that God's son album, the stillmatic is a great one though

i'll let this be my last post on that too but
i totally hear where you are coming from, but in all honesty, i feel like a lot of people sell out big time to move bigger units. if you look at plenty of peoples careers, they start out hard as hell, then they get soft. master p is not a good rapper, but i still have hella respect for him and what he's done. jay-z spits hella game sometimes, and i respect what he has done but he has gone majorly soft. it's just a fact. look at spice 1 though, he has put it down for years, and always came hard. look at mc eiht, still coming with the same formula, and neither have lost respect at all. there is nothing wrong with being on a major label, but there is if you change what you are doing, what got you your fanbase just because of that. Lil jon and the east side boyz still put it down hard, even though they have radio shit, it's still hard, and that's what i'm talkin about homie. it does matter how your neighboorhood revere you after all the fame. but it's a lil different out here in ny, because all they play on the radio is east coast shit, and that's all they listen to out here for the most part, so they would never see jay z or nas as having gone soft, cause all they listen to is radio out here, and they buy that shit. i heard some doods talkin about this shit in NYC, they were sayin that jay z is weak now, but he's the best thing on the radio to them. it's a different world out here, i can't begin to explain it.

and about mac dre, i wouldn't be suprised if that's how he really feels, cause that is how i feel about it. but like we have said, we are different folks with different opinions. i def. hear you on what you are sayin, but i don't agree
