WORD!!!!!!!!

I've been tryin to get this certain tape off from someone who has it. I asked if he has listened or even touched it in last few months and he says "no, but that's the collectors way"

So did I understand him correctly: true collector buys every shit possible and adds it to his collection but never actually listens to it. All that matters is that he knows it's there and he owns it.
What tape you looking for? I may have a copy or rip of it.

MP3 FREAKS vs. REAL COLLECTORS? Interesting.

For us as a label/classic artist, The "MP3 Freak" is a double edge sword. We absolutely love that people continue to share and listen to our/my music. But it sucks to not eat. I guess in the words of Rinnessy, "It Iz Whut It Iz".

We have hit up cats who posted the entire album (OG, Re-Issue, & TCC).

Something Like: "Hey homie, thanks for keeping the music in rotation. We know the OG is expensive and hella hard to find, however the re-issue is available. Tell your folks to buy a shirt or cop a poster. The mini-van needs new tires. Go2 Travlyrics.com"

But with that said, both collectors and mp3 freaks say my raps and music are good. Plus collectors (#1's who really want a hard CD to play), say the re-issue with added tracks is worth the $25.

Also, some of you already know, I'm one of those dudes who was sitting on more than a few Rare/OPP/Mint/CDs/Tapes/Vynil, with no idea that they were valuable.

Back in 2002-2005, I wish I was aware of all this information. I could have been a Thousandaire (lol).

For the record, yes I download. And yes people send us classic tracks. Especially regarding The YBBI Show, I wish we did have every golden-era CD played on the show. Shit, we too would have a blog to say, "Look at our list. All OG. No CDRs. No MP3s".

Hope this perspective adds to the convo.

GOOD TO HEAR AN ARTISTS POINT OF VIEW.

I PERSONALLY STOPPED BEING A "REAL COLLECTOR" A LONG TIME AGO. KIDS MARRAIGE AND OTHER SHIT JUST MADE MY PRIORITIES CHANGE IN LIFE. I STILL SUPPORT LOCAL ARTIST AND SMALL MOM AND POP RECORD SHOPS BUT I DONT COLLECT LIKE I USED TO. I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT I DONT DOWNLOAD MP3'S OFF LIMEWIRE AND OTHER SITES LIKE THAT . IM TO SCARED TO GET A VIRUS OR SOMETHIN. BUT IM DOWN TO TRADE CD-RS AND FULL ALBUMS IN EXCHANGE FOR THE SAME.

IM ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC NOWADAYS. I DONT NEED OG PRESSES , MINT CONDITION CDS /VINYL. THAT ONLY MATTERS TO ME WHEN IM LOOKING FOR STUFF TO SELL OR TRADE. JUST GIVE ME THE "MUSIC" STRIAGHT UP. IF THE SHIT KNOCKS IT GONNA GET PLAY IN MY RIDE.

and stupid idiot neither mr mikal has 5000 colorado cds how can mr sippy can have them??????????????
kindergarten thug.....
aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh why your mama let you use internet....??????
ummmm... i bought them from:

www.twistandshout.com
www.secondspin.com - at least 25 of them prior to midwest_rapz & mrmikal makin em available to the online rap community via eBay. WHen they first started uppin shit in march '04 or so, it also inspired me to look at secondspin for them titles too... This would've been cemented in siccness archives if the original midwest covers thread was still up.
www.gemm.com - a lot of shit from there, stores like orbitused, duffelbag before they were thegreatescapeonline, marktatum and lots of random little sellers
jcompwiz on eBay - she bought a lot of liquidated stock from a local denver cd store, i got first dibs..
planetyabe on eBay, i got first dibs
i got hold of a list before a lot of folks from thalocstasvideosandjunts website, positive i was the 1st to find that... got a few releases offa his list by searching..
random net sites like Wascals and replay media.

just ask Sincere, he bought shit from me. I've bought shit from him.

i thought to be professional, we came to the conclusion that those cds went missing, as the tracking info ENDED at Italy's hub. You just draw suspicions all the time chatting so loosly and adamantly about it publically. God knows how many people wouldn't touch my sale items with a bargepole because of how you handled this matter.

And only 3, maybe 4 had an issue with me.. All resolved. I've had issues with, shit, I can't even count it on my hands over the years. Sort it out.

I LUV MP3 FREAKS.........THOSE THAT BUY RARE CDS AND TAPES,RIP THEM AND TRY 2 SELL FOR HALF MILLION $...
It can work to the detriment of whoever is selling those rare items too ya know.. I think this theory has been expressed by a couple of posters in this thread..

Say if, you wanna get somethin out there, that no mainstream seller/collector has had handles on yet, put it out there.. See if folks like it.. If they don't, it's because they've heard it, and won't bid higher than normal to find out if it's tight. Then generally no customer is dissatisfied.

Some people do take pride in finding rare stuff, and want to share it with others to see what reaction it gets. If it's good over the years, well, at least you know you've now got a valued item.. If it isn't so good, well, at least you've got a little bit of rap history in whichever rap genre/significance it belongs in.. I wouldn't call someone who does that an MP3 freak.. Maybe some of the guys who d/l it, and just spend all their time d/ling.. But those who have dedicated time to searching for original music, and do sell it, whether immediately or 10 years later, are in a category of their own.

^ it wasn't global priority.. It was international data post. I waited about a month for you to pay - i wasn't even certain that you were going to! Since I heard you spent a grip on a load of N.O items..

Hence mikal getting priority over several titles.. Hold up, wouldn't I have jacked him though? He broke bread. It was fair game, you were both in a bidding war.

You were real antsy once you had paid.. When I went to the post office, I was gonna pull out the 7 individual boxes (ALREADY LABELLED) via airsure, or global priority.

The PO guy recommended to keep em in the blue mailer bag.. He said international data post would get it there quicker so i did that instead. Though he neglected to tell me that unlike Global Priority, it was only tracked until the overseas postal service got hold of it.

If you had been as patient as I, you'd probably have had your cds, and they wouldn't have gone missin. It's a virtue mate, and you seriously need to adopt it. At least you got your money back eventually.

I don't care WHY they are no longer in my possession anymore, missin/stolen/ripped off, i'm just mad that theyre gone, and I got nothin for them, from my time I put in to find em.
