My Motif classic has compressor and limiter effects so if you got the ES it definetly should too...how many insert effects can you use on the ES? On the classic only one is available which is kinda a draw back.

^^ why not just use the comps and limiters from your outboard gear or plugins? The sounds don't need compression or limiting on the way out, but you can use the ones within the unit for coloration or the "effect" of compression. But, you can still get a better sound by dumping the drums dry and using the plugins and outboard gear (unless you find the es effects really good.) Are you multitracking and then submixing the drums to a buss?

I usually go outboard anyway cause I'm used to doin it that way, some times I just like to see how the internal comps sound cause I've inspired new beats by doin ceartain thing to em while I'm makin the beat...

Some times I do buss the drums, or the drums and the bass, but I usualy just compress and eq the bass drum on its channel alone.. It really depends on what I'm doin tho
