Saw this article on boxingtalk.com. Guess theres a lot of speculation that Golden Boy execs are acting in the best interests of Mayweather as opposed to all other fighters. They say Berto was probably paid to withdraw from the fight so that a Mosley/Mayweather can be made and Mayweather can save face after ducking Pacquiao. Berto should have also had first crack at a rescheduled date but it does not seem to have happened. Also Mosley should be having a tuneup fight before fighting a fighter of Mayweathers caliber and his advisors didnt schedule one.

BOXING IS A COLD BUSINESS: WHAT BETTER THAN A DOUBLE FLEECING TO KEEP US WARM THIS WINTER?
By G. Leon
Yesterday when I speculated on undefeated WBC champion Andre Berto being bought out of his career high payday against Shane Mosley, perhaps too much credit was given to those who handle Berto's best interest. Unlike Dan Rafael, no source needed to tell me about any postponement or rescheduling clauses being in a contract, because as somebody who has seen more than a few hundred of them, they are standard operating procedure. Everybody who knows anything about the business of boxing will tell you that. Unfortunately, the overwhelming population of boxers are clueless when it comes to the contents of their contracts.
Although Andre Berto has yet to return our calls, Boxingtalk presumes that he still wants to face Sugar Shane Mosley in the very near future. If Berto is able to compete during the specified time period-which usually range from 60 to 90 days-of a postponement, it would be in his best interest to exercise that option.
Once he does, chances are he would either receive a large step aside fee, or the winner of Mayweather-Mosley, a small fee, a combination of both, SOMETHING.
As of now Berto has received no such consideration, as his trainer so eloquently aritculated to me earlier this morning as he cussed me to the ground for making that suggestion.
Throughout this entire mess, one thing has become resoundingly clear. Al Haymon and Richard Schaefer are very, very cozy these days, which should make a lot of people in boxing, including their athletes, very afraid. On the flip side of Berto is Shane Mosley, who has been fighting on HBO before Berto's balls dropped, receiving no last minute replacement to shake off some of the rust that comes with being off for a year. A year off, through no fault of his own, following a masterful performance.
Perhaps Mosley was expected to be so pleased with the Mayweather fight becoming a realistic possibility that he'd reply with a 'yes massa, thank you" while Schaefer dilligently works to make the Mayweather fight.
It's clear to me that Haymon's business revolves around Mayweather. Unlike most of his clients Haymon takes no fee from Mayweather. Perhaps using his name to sign lesser fighters is enough of fee in and of itself, but it's no accident that Haymon hasn't moved Paul Williams, who can make welterweight, lower than middleweight since Floyd's return.
Knowing Haymon, chances are he hasn't explained or mentioned any potential rescheduling clauses to Berto in order to ensure that Mayweather-Mosley comes off free of complications.
God knows what kind of discussions Sir Vrichard Schaefer and Haymon have behind closed doors, but it's clear Mayweather's best interest takes precedence over everybody else, including Shane Mosley's.
I find it hard to believe that Golden Boy Promotions, the company that got Victor Ortiz right back on HBO against Antonio Diaz immediately following his tapout, cannot get Shane Mosley on HBO against a lesser opponent than Berto to shake the rust off and feel sharper going into a fight with Mayweather.
After all, it's Mosley not Mayweather who is a 'partner' to the company.
Shouldn't Sir Vrichard and the rest of the Team Golden want Mosley to be at his best for that fight? Don't they want him to have every advantage? Do they want him to win?
Or do they prefer to give Mayweather every advantage, while Mosley goes along with all of the random testing Mayweather desires? Could that possibly be the case due to certain hopes that "USADA" Mayweather outpoints a rusty Mosley, forcing Pacquiao to follow suit if he wants to give boxing its biggest fight?
The Golden CEO got unusually upset with me earlier when I posed some of these questions to him and wound up hanging up on me. Nobody likes being asked questions they don't want to or can't answer.
Bottom line, Shane Mosley should still be fighting on January 30 and if Mayweather and Mosley fight in May, Andre Berto should receive substantial consideration to void the rescheduling and postponement clauses he probably knows nothing about.
Needless to say our next interviews with Shane Mosley and Andre Berto are going to be must read material
