She comes off as cold for doing that but there's a large population that use the interwebs to get away from "real life"... Maybe she was just trying to get away from the reality of the situation.

Yup. I'm sick of seeing people meet for the first time, and at the end of the conversation ask each other if they have a Facebook. WTF happened to, "You should shoot me your number so we can do lunch or something"??

Instead, we have, "Do you tweet?" Do you have a FB?

People might as well start saying, "I'm completely incapable of holding a face to face conversation...what's your web address?"

One of my communications teachers did an observation on campus a few years ago, and said 90% of the people she saw walking towards each other IMMEDIATELY pulled out their phones and looked down at them instead of acknowledging the other person or saying HI!

I've seen people text each other when they were sitting on the same fuckin' couch.

I dunno bout you guys but I know my girl either needs to be in front of the puter or on her phone checking facebook.

I fuckin hate it.

It's one thing if I'm sitting there playing Xbox or some shit, but if I'm just on the couch watching Law and Order and she won't get off the computer.. it gets me grumpy for sure.

I think it's funny when I tell people I don't fuck with Facebook or Myspace... They look at me like I'm crazy. They assume I don't know how to use a puter... SMH

Interesting, but I would bet that 90% was an exaggeration to prove a point.

Well, you know, she stood out there for only like a half hour, so she didn't see many people. She said hardly anybody said a word to somebody else in passing. Probably just a small number of people. Not hard to believe that maybe one out of every 10 said something to somebody else, but they probably already knew that person.

It's worse for little kids IMO... How are these people going to develop social skills in a real world setting? And on top of that, internet "slang" is going to fuck up the English language.

I even find myself saying "IMO" or "BRB" once in a while in real life and I slap myself for doing it.

The spoken word is going to become...

Teh spkn wrds gnna Bcom...

The interwebs is killing us as a society.

Oh my bad I thought you were saying that even if two people knew eachother and were about to meet up in a hallway, they'd grab their phones.

I get it now, and 90% is probably pretty accurate.

You remember when you used to pass a dude on the street and you might not have wanted to nod at the dude or even make eye contact? The phone is the biggest "distraction" now... I've done it too. Pretend like you're texting someone instead of saying "hello" to a passing stranger.

I fuck with people now and when I make eye contact with people walkin down the street I say "Howdy"...

And I'm with you on this. I have Facebook, Myspace, AND Twitter. FB for personal reasons, and the other two for business type shit. If my girl is around though, I'm not on the computer. Only time I'm on the computer when she's around is to check my school grades and shit like that.

She, on the other hand, will check her shit every couple of minutes from her phone. If it's not a fuckin' BBM or text message, it's fuckin' FB!

I'm convinced that these big rich motherfuckers just want us all to be sidetracked by this senseless shit. Nobody is paying attention to the real world anymore.

Yea, I used to hate saying what's up to folks I didn't know, but I'd at least NOD regardless. The only time I pull my phone out to ignore somebody is when I see somebody I don't like, and want to act like I did not see them. lol.

These days I don't really care who the stranger is though, like you I'll say what's up to anybody.

::just got distracted by sig pic::

Mmmmmmm... Knob Creek.

::shakes off distraction::

Seems like even if you try and be nice and say hello, the next dude wants to just nod and walk past you with their eyes down.

I dunno.. To me, the interwebs has spawned a generation of motherfuckers that look down when they walk, if that makes any sense. I always look straight ahead and behind and it seems that people now would prefer to avert their eyes to anything but a human being.

Perhaps it's because I'm so georgeous that their eyes can't stand it. LoL... but i doubt it.

she always be like "what?....he's just playing." sometimes i feel like slappin her and yellin at at her. Cause i always gotta costantly jump on that kids case cause one day he's gonna hurt himself.

I'm walkin' through a mall wondering why 10 year olds are there by themselves and they're all shakin' their hair to get it out of their eyes so they can text the bitch next to them at Starbucks.

I guess we're getting old.
