Nice grunge usage...but

Its ok but I've seen waaaaayyyy better from Essqubed. The text is a tad small (Not a biggie though). The placement (and maybe scaling) of the guys seems a lil bit off to me or is it to make it appear they coming up through the ground. If so,nore detail should've been added to that 1 lil element...The guy on the right seems to be harshly cut off by the bottom (or is he in the ground).Well, just my 2 cents bro....1-love

@SIK.... YOUR ONE OF THE FEW ARTISTS ON HERE I HAVE MUCH RESPECT FOR & YOU KNOW I GOTTA KEEP IT REAL WITH YOU FOLKS:

AIN'T FEELING IT. THE MO-X & LIL G PHOTO LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE BEING FORCED TO TAKE A PIC. I CAN'T TELL WHAT THOSE THINGS ARE AT THE FRONT OF THE COVER & THE TEXT DOESN'T STAND OUT TO ME.

Thank you all for taking the time to slither an eyeball across the visual imagery that I’ve fabricated. Here are some of my thoughts in regards to random statements and/or critiques.

First & foremost this is a composite of approximately 15 various images & 68 layers of labor in Photoshop.

1) Text size: Typography is an important part of design as we all know, but it ought to be used wisely & factored into the composition accordingly. In my cover designs I choose to let the aura of the piece be determined by the visual depiction I conjure up. Larger sized fonts/text only “cover up” what I see as valued space to put something far more interesting. In my humble opinion, by using huge lettering limits creativity, or in most cases I’ve seen (not all but most), HIDES an artist’s inability to be creative or pull off a detailed piece of artwork. Look at most any & all PROFESSIONAL designs that will appear on the covers of your favorite DVD’s (key word being professional).

2) Marketable subjects: Yes, these are Caucasian individuals that are putting out a rap album. Unfortunately our stereotypical world of hip-hop irritates the pupils of onlookers & leads us to believe that they may not be marketable because they don’t look visually intimidating or because they don’t resemble a character from Menace II Society.

3) Scaling of the humans – The humans are about as close as you’ll get to being correctly scaled. The way I ensured that it would be is by taking a picture of myself (I’m about 6’0” so I estimated Mo-X’s height) in a ditch & then lined them up to my picture. So that is the thing, that they are in a ditch so they would not be showing their entire body. A detail-catching eye would notice the positioning of the headstone in the dirt by the shovel in the background, which shows the angle of the dirt as sloping downward in comparison to the front. Look at the lighting on the dirt & objects in the foreground compared to the images towards the back which also gives a sense of distance as well as angle. The objects in the front are a pair of gloves & shovel which I feel is rather easy to make out but of course I put them there so I definitely know what they are. Nobody else I’ve shown had a problem figuring that out.

Thanks for all the comments & I appreciate the honesty. Just know that when you do a cover you should study & research your concepts before you even begin. Brainstorming is a huge part of my designs. I’ll take a few days to map out my concept & then the actual design time is only a few hours. I look at my designs for a day or two & tweak it to my liking. This is art…& great art is produced by breaking rules presented to you in textbooks or by what is considered “normal”.

yep i noticed that with ur covers. the text is always smaller which shows the design more. i like that. your works of art are always pleasing to my eye.

I like how you eloquently explained youself. You drop some learning knowledge for us all 2.Love!!!

I have a good eye but I can't seem to make out if their scaled in the ditch right. Not the scale exactly, but the small detail put into the ditch plus the blending of the bodies into the ditch to make it appear as if they were actually in their.I'm haven't a small time making it out...

You are experienced/businessman/and knowledgable guy.So don't think I'm hating by giving my 2 cents...I'm just saying that so you won't think it...No hate.

Long as the majority likes it,its all gravy...

Observation from a fellow designers eye...

:Edit:
I'm particularly focused on Lil'Gs left hand...
