Wanna Bet on UFC 88?

Wanna Bet on UFC 88?
Posted on September 02, 2008 by Brandt DeLorenzo
BetUS has some interesting options available for those who are looking to spend some money this weekend on UFC 88. Here are the best lines so far.

Chuck Liddell -260
Rashad Evans +200
Nobody’s really sure how this fight will pan out considering Liddell is a counter-puncher while Evans will want to keep the fight on the ground. I’m thinking Liddell, but there seems to be a large “Rashad by controversial split decision” crowd out there for some reason. I don’t see a controversial ending, but the upset potential is still high.

Rich Franklin -230
Matt Hamill +180
Matt Hamill and Rich Franklin are both coming of wins into this fight, but Hamill is the unexperienced fighter who has a lot to gain from winning this bout. I think a lot of people forget that he’s only had five professional fights while Franklin is ready to battle for the 27th time. Hamill could take this fight now that Franklin might be feeling a little lost after back to back losses to the current middleweight title holder, Anderson Silva.

Karo Parisyan -260
Yoshiyuki Yoshida +200
Karo Parisyan is having a hard time these days. After a quick stoppage loss to Thiago Alves at UFN 13, he admitted to being diagnosed with panic attacks. Parisyan has also failed to finish anyone since his fight with Nick Thompson nearly two and a half years ago. Yoshida, on the other hand, is coming off 9 straight wins. His most recent, a quick submission over Jon Koppenhaver, helped solidify him into a spot of potential contenders for the welterweight belt. I see Yoshida doing a lot of damage in this fight and I think Parisyan is only favored because of his name in the UFC.

Dan Hendersom -200
Rousimar Palhares +160
Don’t underestimate Palhares, as he is a force on the ground. If Henderson keeps the fight standing, he could easily end the fight, but you’re never safe against a BJJ specialist like Palhares who won’t waste any time trying to get the fight onto the ground for a quick submission. This one is interesting if you don’t think Henderson will finally avenge his recent losses in the octagon.

Good luck and let us know if you decided to get in on the action. I’m tempted to place some money down on Hamill, but it’s a little risky yet.

Randy Couture a Slight Favorite Over Brock Lesnar

Some sites have already released lines for the upcoming Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar showdown at UFC 91 and at least to open things up Randy is a slight favorite.

Odds from Bodoglife.com:

Randy Couture -140

Brock Lesnar +110

Couture / Lesnar Fight goes 2:30 of Round 3 -280

Couture / Lesnar Fight does not go 2:30 of Round 3 +220

That is damn close to a pick 'em line for arguably the biggest fight in MMA history. I couldn't be more amped than I am right now and we're still months away from fight night. I can say, however, that I'm very tempted to put some money down on the fight going over 2:30 of Round 3. I think there is a very good chance that this goes to a decision as Brock has yet to show much finishing ability and while I can see Randy winning I don't think he does it by stopping Lesnar early in the fight.

Just in case you wanted to see the difference in the matchmaking of the "unproven stars" in the UFC and EXC here are the odds for Kimbo vs. Ken Shamrock:

Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Fergusson -600

Ken Shamrock +400

The UFC absolutely OWNS every other American promotion at this point in every aspect from sheer deep talent in every division to compelling matchmaking on every show.

UFC 89 coming up this saturday. Make sure to get your picks and wagers in because it's in the UK and it's gonna lock earlier than a normal UFC. This should be a pretty dope card to pick from all the competitive fights. Should be a lot of good and horrible scores heh.

Me too. although i won a couple of the underdogs in the sportsbooks.Junior Dos Santos really hooked me up. had $100 @ +450 Over all good card IMO spider was a joke. Wonder why he hung back? \
No clue .. seemed like he wasn't interested in fighting and was there to dance and play around. I'm all for putting on a show while fighting but that was way more show than fighting. Maybe he thought he could put Cote away with one shot and surprised himself when he couldn't. Who knows ..

.. and what the fuck is up with Werdum coming in fat? Rogan was trying to say he was bulking up but that didn't look like bulking up .. that shit looked like he was fat. Even still Dos Santos turning what looked like an overhand right making Werdum duck into an uppercut was tight as hell.
