Report: Alvarez in talks to fight Aina during April

Eddie Alvarez's second fight for EliteXC could take place on Saturday, April 26, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Brian Knapp of The Fight Network is reporting.

According to the report, Alvarez (12-1) is in talks to fight Hawaiian fighter "Iron" Mike Aina (8-6-1). An official statement by EliteXC has not been made.

Alvarez debuted for EliteXC during its ShoXC event last Friday in Atlantic City where he defeated Ross Ebanez, another Hawaiian, via TKO at 2:32 of round 2.

The former BodogFIGHT welterweight champion officially signed with EliteXC in January, but had been talks with the promotion since early-December. April's fight would be the second on his current three-fight deal.

The fight would also serve as Alvarez's first fight at 160 pounds.

Aina has not competed since fighting Nick Diaz during EliteXC's last show in Hawaii, which took place on September 15 at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu. During the fight, Aina dropped a controversial three-round split decision to Nick Diaz.

Aina had been slated to fight Paul Daley during the most recent ShoXC event but was pulled from the card in December after sustaining an injury while training. He was eventually replaced on the card by former UFC fighter Sammy Morgan.

Report: Filho to rematch Sonnen in March; could be last fight at middleweight

WEC middleweight champion Paulo Filho has requested and been granted a rematch against Chael Sonnen, Filho's boxing coach Josuel Distak is quoted as saying in a new interview with Tatame.com.

And according to Distak, the fight will be Filho's last as a middleweight.

Filho defeated Sonnen at WEC 31 in December, but not before Sonnen gave Filho everything he could handle. Filho was dominated by Sonnen for the entire match up until he caught Sonnen in a submission.

Filho has attributed weight cutting issues as a reason for the lackluster performance. A move to light heavyweight will obviously render those issues moot.

Rua Signs to Fight Liddell

Mauricio Rua (Pictures) has signed to fight Chuck Liddell (Pictures), the Brazilian told Sherdog.com.

"The fight against Liddell is confirmed," Rua said. "I signed the contract yesterday. Now I am going to train hard, focused on him, to represent my new team, Universidade da Luta, and my country. The fight is going to be in June."

Rua, 16-3, debuted in the UFC in September 2007 after a career in Pride that had earned him a reputation as one of the best light heavyweights in the world. However, Forrest Griffin (Pictures) upset "Shogun" at UFC 76, submitting him with a rear-naked choke in the third round.

The Brazilian left the storied Chute Boxe camp last year. He recently returned to training after knee surgery and is in the process of establishing a new team with his brother, Murilo Rua (Pictures).

In December, Liddell defeated the Rua brothers' former Chute Boxe teammate Wanderlei Silva (Pictures) via unanimous decision. The long-awaited fight was seen as a critical victory for "The Iceman." He had lost two bouts in a row before bouncing back with the decisive win over Silva.

Who should Brock Lesnars next opponent be against in the UFC'S heavyweight division?
I think they should give him Antoni Hardonk. A good striker that has proven to be easy to takedown and keep there. That should give him a good confidence boost and more time to train. I actually want Lesnar to do well for the good of the sport. They had people at my work that were talking about ordering the PPV because they were curious as to how Lesnar would do.
