Grad school? If so, enjoy it while it lasts, cuz I don't know about your field, but in mine post-docs are getting fewer and farther between as the NIH and NSF funding lines get tighter and tighter, to say nothing about tenure track positions. Even though I'm not a huge fan of teaching, I feel lucky to have a lecturership to support myself while I'm writing grants.

Biomedical.

There is no field of science that has been spared those problems, I am acutely aware of the situation

Really? This sounds super German too me.

We couldn't translate it either but when translated directly it would be 'word echt' but the usable version would be 'doe normaal'.
which is already very different.
