I'm not denying that A-Rod is the best player and has all the numbers. But it's the MVP award. Someone has yet to explain to me how A-Rod was the Most Valuable Player in the American league. When you lose you don't get awards, that's the way it works. And A-Rod didn't get robbed he got consideration finished second place. But Tejada has the hardware and that's where it belongs.

Bonds won it last year... how far did the team go?
The Giants had a winning record and they were in the playoff race. duh.

And last I checked Mark McGwire hit 70 home runs and broke the single season record. But did he get the MVP? no he didn't, because his team lost. The whole point of an MVP award is to award a player for their value to his team's winning. When you lose there is no MVP, plain and simple.

The MVP award has gone to a player on a losing team...a few times.

I agree that the award should be given to a player who was most valuable to his team. But there is no rule stating that it has to be a player on a winning team. I'm not taking anything away from Tejada...he had a good year, and had some clutch hits. But how can argue with the stats that A-Rod put up.

If there was a rule that the award had to be given to a player on a winning team, or if the award was never given to a player on a losing team before, then that would be different. But there has been a few times where the award was given to a player on a losing team...and with A-Rod's stats being as good as they are, you have to give it to him.

it wasnt neccessarily because he was on a losing team its because he and sammies numbers were nearly identical
70 homers for big mac---66 homers for sammy
rbi edge to sammy
batting average to sammy

I'm not arguing with A-Rod's stats, everybody knows his stats were the best. But the fact is his team was 30 GAMES OUT OF FIRST PLACE. You just can't look past that, obviously the voters are intelligent enough to recognize that the most important thing is winning. The Rangers were irrelevant, every game A-Rod played in was meaningless. The voters were intelligent enough to see that you shouldn't be rewarded for playing in meaningless games, and being a non factor in the picture of baseball.

And how many players on a last place team have won the MVP? only 1, in over 100 years of baseball. LAST PLACE TEAM= no MVP. stay up playas.
