it's no secret cotto has had issues with top rank. It all goes back to when bob arum was supporting margarito after he got caught trying to load his gloves against mosley. Cotto felt it was a direct disrespect and threatened to leave and sign with golden boy, but ultimately decided to stay longer.

I like how Cotto realizes he has the power to control his career though. Like how he threatened to pull out of this fight if it wouldn't take place in NYC, which would have certainly screwed arum who already invested some millions into the fight.

If he stays with Top rank, he can fight Chavez jr. If he signs to Golden Boy, he's got some options - Canelo, Kirkland, Lara and others.

The more I talk to people about this fight the more I realize how epic it is, just with all the behind the scenes factors and what not, and the build up.

"The Margarito / Cotto Saga" continues...

Margarito looks good.
Placed on the Cotto and Under 9.5 on Rios vs Murray.
I thought both lines would shoot up after the weigh ins. Looks like I may be on the wrong side....

Dammit.

Cotto should take it, but what the hell Rios...

I have a Rios in a three way Parlay bet I had going, I'm worried about that.

I also had felix sturm as I figured there is no way in hell he'd lose to Martin Murray in Germany but it looks like it was a draw, which I'm reading is a GIFT to sturm. fuck that guy

Rios done fucked up........

Brandon Rios Loses Title on Scales, Fight Up in The Air

Brandon Rios dropped his World Boxing Association lightweight title at the scales after failing to make 135 pounds.

And his bout with John Murray will only go on if he makes a weight limit Saturday morning that was negotiated between both camps.

Rios will only be allowed to gain 10 pounds before Saturday’s weigh-in; he must make 146.6 pounds by 9 a.m. Eastern Time.

Rios’ first weigh-in attempt came at about 5:10 p.m. on Friday, with him standing behind a towel and tipping the scales at 136.4 pounds. A moment later, he stepped back on the scale and saw the machine read 135.6 pounds, according to the figures announced by Michael Buffer.

He had an hour to lose the additional ounces. But his final weigh-in attempt showed him at 136.6 pounds; he’d not been able to make weight.

Now we will see how good Rios really is when he moves up to fight people his own size. Rios will be at 147lb by next year because he's still growing into his body. Sad to see him lose his belt at the scales.
