Those lyrics are definitely on point, he's spittin some real shit. Vyasadeva, he's covering a lot of tha problems that's goin on in tha Black community, and tha bullshit many of us face as a result of tha past and present. He's also talkin about how corrupt tha media is, and tha negative effects it's havin on us. He's not saying that tha white man is some powerful unstoppable muthafucka who can destroy anyone.
The shit is nice, I agree, I have bumped his shit for years and even though I disagee with the conclusion he draws with regards to all the ills of the world, I think he is definitely a notch above the average "mc".
"He's not saying that tha white man is some powerful unstoppable muthafucka who can destroy anyone."
"See if I was wicked I would pick and stick to a plan
To rule the world and trick ‘em, this is how it’d begin
See I’d have to find a way to keep the people enslaved
Behave, teach the babies it’s my way or the grave" - Paris
Now this is basically saying "it's a white man's world", and he has been in control of the entire situation from the beginning. He tricked the world into believing he doesn't exist, but actually he is the devil, master manipulator, blah blah blah. This is attributing a great amount of power and influence to the white man, seeing as he has supposedly succeeded and continues to succeed in his goals.
I understand he touches on the corruption of media, politics, etc., and he is on point on that shit. But we can do that all day because politics and media are themselves simply collections of corrupted people. In a capitalist society the pervading mentality is that ends justify means, and if corruption means more capital, it will run rampant. Since corruption runs rampant at the individual level, then when groups of corrupt people form boards and committees and governments these corruptions inherently manifest in deals and negotiations, lawmaking and justice, and the result is compromised integrity and a public which becomes inconceivably cynical to the whole process. And rightly so. So the public is corrupt and they are angry that the system they use to govern themselves is corrupt.
But the point Paris is making is that the devil is the cause of the conditions we are in because he has been pulling strings from the beginning. And the devil is the white man. The white man sure has done devilish things. So have brown men, black men, yellow men, red men, etc. The propensity for evil actions is present in every human, regardless of race or sex or nationality. To assign this primal and molecular level wellspring of evil to a particular skin color is just nonsensical. Realize the white man has no more power than any other man on the planet. Control is an illusion. There is a scene from Instinct, where Anthony Hopkins snatches Cuba Gooding jr. up and shows him that the control he thought he had was an illusion. The control of the guards outside is an illusion. So the question becomes "who is in control?", and according to this song the Devil is in control. He is responsible for countless ancient and current generations which idolize materialism and hedonism. He is responsible for drug addiction. He is responsible for prostitution. These are major things to have on your resume. But the truth is, these ills are inherent in the material realm, and *capitalism* is what is responsible for the ever-pervasive and expansive growth of moral decay and the subsequent street-level apocalypse that Paris is talking about. It is not the white man's fault that clowns by the thousands are breaking themselves to floss on spinning wheels and Jacob jewelery. This propensity to posess and display opulence is in us because it is in the Supreme Lord. He is actually the posessor and displayer of everything. We are similar to a distorted reflection, imitating Him in His activities. Instead of offer our any and everything to the Lord, realizing that He is actually the provider and maintainer and proprietor of everything, we constantly covet shit and perpetually crave more and more. There is no end to our greed and lust. So much do I have today, and so much more will I gain tomorrow. Thus in the absence of a common understanding of the actual proprietor of all things within the universe and without, we find deceit, thievery, violence, dishonesty, etc. These conditions are inherent in this material realm.
Yeah, whitey has ridden the wave well, and like everyone else, he is corrupted. Dope cut, but the problem of evil is bigger than white guys.
