Canelo, Reynoso Give
Mayweather an Ultimatum For
5/4

By Jose Luis Camarillo, Miguel Rivera, Notifight.com

WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo' Alvarez (41-0-1,
30KOs) will refuse to fight on the May 4th undercard at the
MGM Grand in Las Vegas - unless Floyd Mayweather Jr. signs
an agreement that guarantees the Mexican champion a
showdown in September. The May date in Las Vegas was
going to be a Showtime pay-per-view doubleheader, with
Mayweather in the main event against Robert Guerrerro and
Canelo facing WBA champion Austin Trout in a unification in
the co-feature.

Canel and his manager/trainer Chepo Reynoso are giving
Mayweather a Thursday deadline to agree, or the Mexican
boxer plans to fight on April 20th in Mexico or May 11th in the
United States. And the opponent is potentially not going to be
Trout, says Canelo.

"We are going to arrive to Los Angeles this Thursday. If on that
day Floyd does not signed our agreement for September, we
are not going to fight on the evening of May 4th, and then we
will determine if we'll fight on April 20th or the week that
follows the May 4th date. I don't know why we're being put in
this position. Two years ago they wanted to make this the fight,
but I was not ready. Today we want the fight and they are not
agreeing. I do not understand. All I want is a big opponent,
because 2013 will be my year. We want to continue with our
plan to have the big fights that the public wants," Canelo said.

Reynoso added in the following: "Let it be clear that it
is Mayweather who does not want the fight."

Well in Floyd's defense I don't see how he HAS to guarantee a fight with Canelo in September. If Canelo and Floyd both win, then talk, they have the same promoter its easy to make.

And in Canelos defense if he's going to fight a top fighter in Trout in a unification bout he has the right to want to be the headline, not be an undercard fight.

So I'm fine with it.

Floyd needs to get back to ducking punches and stop ducking all these fighters. This is absurd man. For every fight he's won, he's diminishing quickly for every fighter he hasn't fought. And it's not even like this is something new.
Dude what the fuck are u talking about? Floyd has a huge fight May 4th. Again who in the fuck gives guarantees when they already have a fight in front of them. Thats just bad karma to me. Canelo needs to wait and fight Trout and then go from there. yall kill me with this Floyd ducking and being scared bullshit. Keep hatin though. Got Em!!

He can't duck cuz he's usually taller and bigger than his opponent so someone at his height or weight is usually taking steroids cuz its impossible to be as good as he is or even better

Well maybe the same size but no way was Floyd bigger. Im sure it was fairly close if not the same. Also he went up to Cotto's weight so even if he was bigger, how can someone complain when he went up to fight that guy? But agree with u about Marquez but like I said atleast when he did fight a smaller guy it was a great smaller guy feel me. Got Em!!

Well I'm just saying Cotto is a true welterweight and the only true JMW he fought he lost to in Trout. Floyd is actually bigger than Cotto despite the thin layer of flab around Cotto's mid section when he fights at 154.Basically Cotto should get his lazy butt back to 147 he really had no business at 154 in the first place.

you see, all these fighters Floyd didn't fight until past their prime, and DelaHoya don't even mention that fool that fight was hella fixed and if it was a "good fight that some say DelaHoya should've won" then there should have been a rematch. plus Pacman destroyed all those fools, not just one fighter then say,"i'm better you see!"

Floyd is a bitch man. I know you're a fan of his and that's great. The only thing I have against him is denying fans of fights they've wanted and has consistently done so since the DLH fight. Answer this, when was the last time Floyd had an even-odds fight? Floyd is a great boxer, but he fights very low to low risk fights and has done so for quite some time now. I didn't say he needs to give him a guarantee, but I would be absolutely shocked if he ever fights Canelo, and I'll be the first to admit that he's not even an accomplished fighter. Everyone knows Floyd tries to make the most money he can, well that's the biggest fight that can be made. He also made a ton of b.s. excuses for not making the biggest fight that could possibly be made.

Fam, regarding the bold part you have to look at where Floyd is (or was) and look at the other fighters. It's Floyd man, aside from Manny and Sergio there were no others that would be high risk or an even odds fight. It's like those two weak ass HW champs we've had in the past. They get to go down in history but have they fought many greats? Hell no. Same with this Canelo guy. Who has he fought? Floyd doesn't need to fight Canelo. Canelo needs to fight Floyd. Floyd gains more money and another feather in his cap by beating Canelo. Nothing more. Just another one biting the dust. Now if Canelo wins, he'll be the talk of boxing for years to come and that would also apply to anyone who would fight Floyd and win.

Look at their carreers and tell me five reasons why Canelo deserves a fight with Floyd. Shit, I'd say that dead man walking, Manny, deserves a fight before Canelo.

So you see, there are no even-odds, bro. You're dealing with one of the best fighters of all time here, not some Johnny come lately.

This is an old argument but Floyd touts himself as the best of all time. Compare him to Muhammad Ali in terms of who he fought. Or even Sugar Ray Robinson, or Leonard? Leonard ran all day against Hagler, but at least he had the stones to get in there with him even if he was on his last legs. Leonard came out of retirement for that fight and bulked up quite a bit to fight a killer in Hagler. Floyd's biggest challenge on paper before the fight would've been Corrales, and he fought a great fight and won. That's what fans demand out of the best fighters.

Why should he be compared to Ali? Robinson or Leonard? Ali, I don't see it. It's hard for me to compare the guys in different weight classes just like it's hard for me to compare the guys fighting 12 round championship fights to those who fought 15 round chapionship fights.

As for Leonard, all of his demands were met for his fight against Hagler. Ring size, glove size, money, everything. If the other people aren't stepping up to the plate and proving themselves why does he need to fight them? Why does he have to prove his worth? He's already going down in history as one of the best. If he were to stop fighting today and Canelo were to stop fighting today, who would the boxing world talk about? Who would sports writers talk about? Would boxers say, "Now that Floyd is gone" or "Now that Canelo is gone?"

So no, he doesn't have to prove anything to me, his fans, the boxing community, etc because he's done it by beating everyone who was placed in front of him (one questionable win however and I'm not talking about the Ortiz victory) and has made history.
