Floyd with an easy UD.

Hatton leaves himself wide open when coming in, and throws wide looping punches. Add to that he's facing probably the best counter puncher in boxing, I think Floyd is going to dance circles around this guy.

I just see Floyd totally out boxing Hatton. Hatton has had problems with slick boxers.

Another thing...Ricky tends to let himself go in between fights...forcing him to have to cut 30-40lbs before fights. That's probably why he tends to gas in the later rounds.

All signs pointing to Dec. 8th....

Mayweather-Hatton Dec. 8

By Mark Vester

Leonard Ellerbe, adviser to WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (38-0, 24 KOs) told USA Today that plans are being finalized for a bout between Mayweather and Ricky Hatton (43-0, 31 KOs) on Dec. 8 at a venue to be determined and televised on HBO's Pay-Per-View arm.

Ellerbe said an official announcement may come as early as Monday and gave Hatton credit for stepping up to take the fight. It has not been determined if the bout will be for Mayweather' WBC title or a non-title attraction.

"This is a great fight for the fans," Ellerbe. "We have two young unbeaten fighters, at the top of their game, from two different countries going against each other. It's what boxing needs. I never thought he would do it, but Ricky Hatton deserves credit for stepping up to the plate. He asked for it and now he's going to get it. Floyd is a extremely excited. He wants to show Hatton that he's never fought at this level before. He's going to show him what it's like to step in the ring with the best fighter."

DLH doesn't deserve to fight anyone really, he hasn't had a notable win since... Shit, I really forgot. The Golden Boy needs to stick to promotion.. A Mayweather/Cotto, Mosely/Mayweather, Hatton/Cotto, or Mosely/Hatton sounds much more appealing..

So now we got Cotto/Mosely in November and this in December.. Hopefully the winners fight each other in 08..

Thats whats supposed to happen.

I think it'll be a Mosley - PBF fight...which I would like to see...but I don't rule out the possibility of a Cotto - PBF fight. Cotto would be a good matchup for PBF style-wise, he's a great pressure fighter, and can cut off the ring as good as anyone in the sport.

Either way, the welterweight division is looking stacked. I'd also like to see where Paul Williams fits into this whole thing...I think he creates a lot of matchup problems for just about anyone @ 147.

Yea, Welter Weight division is crackin.. I think out of all of the match ups tho, I'd want to see Cotto-Mayweather.. Best Style match up since Mosely and Mayweather will look to out point each other with Mayweather having an edge imo. It's a given that Mayweather is a better boxer than Cotto, but Cotto is a damn good "fighter" who like you said, knows how to pressure and cut off the ring, and Mayweather's closest fights have been against good pressure fighters (besides N'dou, who he obliterated)..

Hatton: "I Have The Style To Beat Mayweather"Hatton: "I Have The Style To Beat Mayweather"

By Mark Vester

As soon as the news broke that Ricky Hatton (43-0, 31KOs) had agreed in principle to face WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (38-0, 24KOs) on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas, the media frenzy began in the UK.

Because Hatton holds no contractual obligation to any British broadcaster, a huge bidding war is expected between Sky, Setanta and ITV. HBO will air the fight in the United States on pay-per-view.

"Floyd Mayweather is a dream fight for me, the main man on my list," said Hatton to the UK Telegraph. "I've made no secret of the fact that I want to fight the best, and Mayweather represents the biggest challenge out there. I know it will be the toughest fight of my career. I think I have the style to beat him, and I can think of no greater motivation than going in against the man considered the world's No 1 pound-for-pound fighter."

The paper said that Ray Hatton, Ricky's father and manager, and their lawyer, Gareth Williams, met Mayweather's advisers at ringside in Las Vegas at the Bernard Hopkins-Winky Wright bout on July 21. The terms were not agreed upon at the meeting, but the two sides were able to reach an agreement after holding subsequent over the phone.

The lawyers are now drafting up the final contract.

"We have agreed our terms in both camps; now it is up to the lawyers to sort out the final contract," Ray Hatton said.

Billy Graham, Hatton's trainer, agrees that his fighter has the perfect style to beat Mayweather and predicts a legendary battle when the two fighters meet.

"This fight is on a par with the meeting of Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran," Graham said. "The styles are also similar. One's a skilled mover with all the punches [Mayweather] the other is a relentless come-forward fighter who stands toe-to-toe. I've said all along that Ricky has the style to beat Mayweather, and we are delighted." - Source

can I vote that this fight will be a boring snoozefest.....with Mayweather winning by decision? My opinion is based on the last 2 Mayweather fights. This is Boxing After Dark material. I hope that i'm wrong though and we all get to see the Floyd that dumped on Gatti

^I've been predicting a Gatti-like massacre all along, the only reason Floyd's last two fights were like that (obviously) is because both opponents out weighed him by like twenty pounds. Instead of dwelling on that I don't see why people don't acknowledge the fact that he overcame these obstacles.

Anyways, Mayweather is taller and has a longer reach than Hatton, not to mention that now he is accustomed to fighting at a bigger weight than Hatton. He's faster, more ring savvy, more adaptable, better on his feet, more calculated, and maybe even stronger.. This will be a slaughter..

I concur. It's going to be a massacre worse than Virginia tech. I see visions of bloody ricky's corner throwing in the towel around the 8th.

I like Ricky and all, but I just don't see him putting up a good fight against Floyd. Floyd is too fast, to agile, too athletic. Put all that aside and probably the biggest factor is this fight is at 147, right?? When I saw Hatton fight Collazo at 147, Hatton kinda got his ass kicked for much of the fight and just walked into punches all night. It was close, maybe a draw, some think Collazo was robbed. Either way, Hatton didn't look good at that weight. He did show he had a good chin though, hence a gatti-like beating and the corner throwing in the towel.

Here is his face after Collazo:

It's official!!

The 'super-fight' between Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather will go ahead on 8 December after contracts were signed, according to Hatton's father Ray.

"The contract provided what we wanted and we are officially signed up," said Ray, "and our lawyers have told us that the Mayweather camp have also signed.

"Now we are just waiting for the date and venue to be made official."

The MGM Grand in Las Vegas is favorite to host the contest, where Hatton could expect a traveling support in excess of the 10,000 who saw him beat Jose Luis Castillo in the city in June.
