It's getting increasingly difficult to ignore these Arabs, isn't it?
$110 MILLION For Floyd To Fight Manny
A consortium from the United Arab Emirates is reportedly willing to give Floyd Mayweather a guaranteed $110 million to fight Manny Pacquiao.
Promoter M. Akbar Muhammad said the group is trying to pull out all the stops to make the superfight happen.
"The funding is in place, and because of this and the group’s unique and distinctive make-up and backgrounds, it has emerged as the leading and most serious group striving to secure the bout," Muhammad told boxingscene.com.
According to Muhammad, the fight need not be held in the UAE. "We want to be a part of Mr. Mayweather’s historic march to 50-0, no matter where the fights may take place," he said.
Pacquiao, for his part, won't be getting chump change in the deal either, according to Muhammad, a former Top Rank executive.
"There’s absolutely no doubt that each fighter, individually, will receive more money than any other boxer has in the past. The combined purses are approaching $200 million. And, rest assured, we have the resources to do just that."
Talks of a fight between the two most iconic fighters of their generation have been on-and-off for years, repeatedly breaking down due to demands from Mayweather. But top American television executives are reportedly involved in brokering the deal, giving boxing fans fresh hope that it would finally push through. — JST, GMA News
