probably HBO and Showtime. Bob Arum is working with the CBS CEO but that doesn't mean HBO is working with Showtime. We've never heard from HBO saying that they would work with CBS/SHO and we never heard from CBS/SHO saying they would work with HBO. it's basically speculation. I just don't think HBO and Showtime will come together.

I don't think Pacquaio is exclusive to HBO and Arum can take him to Showtime to face Mayweather...just don't see Arum boxing himself in like that. I also see Arum running a risk of talking backdoor dealings with Moonves and trying to become the A-side of the negotiations that will tank the fight...he's gonna wind up pissing Floyd off by disrespecting Floyd's position as the A-side. Arum doesn't need Moonves to deliver Floyd...Floyd delivered himself May 2nd 2015. I think Arum is trying to get a better split...50/50 for Pacquaio. Latest "talks" not "facts" say Mayweather is offering Manny a 60/40 split. So let's see what happens from there--->

Mayweather to get 0 million, Pacquiao million

According to Dan Rafael, Yahoo Sports and The Ring magazine Pacquiao is currently under contract with HBO.

Arum/Top Rank hasn't promoted a card on Showtime in well over a year.

Top Rank and Espinoza have not got along. They've both said nasty things about each other. Arum is going straight to Espinoza's boss, Moonves. In order for Showtime to do a joint PPV with HBO, it's going to need to be green lighted by the higher ups, not Espinoza and Ken Hershman of HBO. I think it's good Arum is talking directly with the top dog. If Moonves says make it happen, Espinoza has to take orders. I personally don't believe Arum is trying to get 50/50, but I'm quite positive he's trying to maximize his profits as well.

BINGO! That's why Arum wants it on a different date in a bigger stadium. Even more money for Mayweather! The Bay Area @The Bay Area answer this question, what is Al Haymon and Espinoza doing for Floyd and Showtime so they can get more money for the fight?

The date is really irrelevant to me. They will make money on any date, doesn't matter. But if Floyd wants May 2nd, they should do it. I know Arum wants Cotto vs Canelo on that date because for that fight it actually would be bigger numbers because of the Mexicans obviously. So Arum is trying to have BOTH fights his way. Really though what he needs to do is only focus on Floyd vs Pacquiao. Canelo vs Cotto might be a little less numbers on a different date, but who cares with all the money Arum will make off Pac vs Floyd. Arum just needs to shut up about May 2nd, if Floyd wants that date give it to him (against Pacquiao). And the ginger needs to shut up about the date as well and realize Floyd vs Pacquiao is waaaay bigger than him.

-I used this quote I found from December 25th 2014 to answer your question B @battle619 ...it's sums it up perfectly...MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

No, Arum should not shut up about the date. He's obligated to HBO, not Showtime. HBO will pull the plug real quick on a Floyd Manny fight if certain things don't go their way. Now, the date is relevant cuz you are not seeing things from a Mexican perspective cuz you are not Mexican. I am and I'm always crossing the border down south (only 10 mins away). Mayweather vs Canelo was the second mst watched ANYTHING in Mexican history, I believe because of Canelo. Ask any Mexican, IN PERSON, and ask them which fight they would rather see on a Mexican holiday and they will say Canelo vs Cotto. Then ask a Puerto Rican the same question and they will say the same. Then think which fight would be cheaper AND have a better undercard and and you reach 1 mill buys. So yes, the date is relevant.

Canelo vs Cotto won't reach 1 million PPV buys only 1 time a Mexican vs Puerto Rican has made those numbers...and they were both young and undefeated champions at 147 lbs a hot division...the fight was being compared to Ray vs Hearns with 100% justification. What lofty comparisons is Canelo vs Cotto being compared to...nothing. Canelo is the B-side...Cotto is the A-side (Cotto has been on more PPV events than Canelo) so do it in June at Madison Square Garden. Mayweather and Pacquaio are comparable to Ali vs Frazier in magnitude. So battle619 STOP DUCKING SON!!!

How many times has a top mexican fighter fought a top puerto rican? When it comes down.to it, mexicans and puerto ricans are going to pay big money to see a top mexican and puerto rican fight. And, fighting at MGM or anywhere in NJ, NY or Philly will ensure it's as festive as Puerto Rican Day (a celebration i have been to twice now in nj and philly.)

The racial aspect of this fight will help sell it so listen to what Battle is telling you

Across the board PPV numbers are down. I just don't see 2 fighters: one who hasn't had a compelling defining victory yet...after 40 plus fights and the other fighter has been "resurrected" but it might be smoke and mirrors. My guess is 650-700K. I like both fighters and I would like to be wrong...but the PPV climate has taken a hit.

Yeah they are down, no question but it probably has more to do with match and card quality as opposed to anything else. And again, you're dealing with two groups with a lot of racial pride and conviction and there is history there. I think they will hit 1 million to 1.3 million.

u damn right. confuse a puerto rican for a mexican and vice versa, the response is hilarious.
i grew up pr and being in san diego, grew up with mexicans. i got love and respect for both and this fight will do a million easy as long as they promote it in the right markets.

Camelo after losing to Floyd had a PPV vs Angulo, a fight everyone thought Canelo would win and that did 350k. That's 350k faithful Canelo fans that are buying his PPVs no matter what. Cotto vs Martinez also did 350k, despite everyone thinking Cotto would get his ass beat, that was 350k Cotto diehard fans. Now, you combine those two hardcore fan bases, plus add the whole Mexican vs Puerto Rican rivalry AND add that it's one of the biggest fights in boxing, yeah easily does a million buys, no doubt about that.

Shit man, confuse a puerto ricin with a Mexican or black, and you are asking for it. I remember the first time I was in jersey, I approached a cat, thought he was black and he got mad and started rambling on in Spanish. I said "woah" and walked off.

But the rivalry is not enough to generate record sales. It's not in the top 5 or top 10 in PPV numbers...if Floyd fights Pacquiao or Amir Khan...or Pacquaio vs Amir Khan any combination of those 3 fighters will sell more than Cotto vs Canelo.
