that doesnt say anything about why he should be the pound for pound best

he hasnt been beaten and draws crowds?...same as prince nasseem hamed who was going around calling himself the greatest for the same reason...and guess what? people would buy it because he was undefeated and charismatic...exactly like floyd and same as floyd he fought just mediocre fighters, until he could no longer run from the criticism of dodging guys and fought barrera...and what happened? barrera took him to school and showed him what it really meant to be a great boxer...whooped on him and retired his loudmouth flamboyant ass..but everyone who really knew boxing knew that was exactly what was going to happen, just like what should happen to mayweather when he actually fights a worthy opponent

so he wont fight unless hes gonna make the right amount of money...ok so he's a good jewy business athlete. coincidentally though being so savvy with money has also led him to turn down fighters that many knew would actually whoop on him...how convenient. i dont care if he makes 5 mil or 50 mil, to be a boxing great youve gotta beat the boxing greats...until he beats worthy opponents he will not truly be considered the pound for pound best
He hasn't been beating.... And your right there is worthy opponents out there for him to fight now. But thats now before that there really was know one. Dude has got in the ring with everybody the media has said dude is scared to fight.

no he hasnt got in the ring with dudes the media said he was scared to fight......margarito and cotto to name a couple

with that said though...props to mayweather for finally stepping up and fighting a worthy opponent in marquez. its the first time ive ever felt convinced hes fighting someone of at least his caliber (better imo)...which is why i think he wont be able to win...which kinda confuses me as to why he's doing this since hes never done it before. but i guess we'll just have to see on the 19th

marquez is a bad mofo. Anyone that thinks this will be an easy fight for mayweather severely underestimates marquez, the guy is a beast and there is a reason he is #2 pound 4 pound in the world.

With that said Mayweather should beat him. I think it will be a tough fight that will go the full 12 rounds and mayweather winning a comfortable decision.

wait man, so you're saying mayweather never fought worthy opponents? The only time that can be said is when he started fighting at 147, when he fought Oscar and Ricky instead of say, margarito and cotto (but you got to admit oscar & ricky were much more $$$$$ than cotto/margs). But before that, come on man, he fought the best and beat the crap out of them.

Let's not forget he beat Diego Corrales when Diego Corrales was 33-0 and mayweather was actually the underdog going into the fight. What happened? Mayweather knocked him down 6 times and copmletely embarrassed the guy (RIP). He destroyed Genaro Hernandez who was 38-1, Angel Manfredy 25-2, Carlos Alberto Ramon Rios 44-2, Justin Juuko 33-2, Carlos Gerena 34-2, Carlos Hernandez 34-2, Jesus Chavez 35-1, Jose Luis Castillo (2x) 34-4, Zab Judah, Gatti, etc etc etc. He beat everyone who was anyone back then.

Again, the only time he's ever got criticized is work at 147 pounds. He fought Baldimor (who was champ), Zab Judah, Sharmba Mitchell, Oscar and Ricky. People wanted him to fight Cotto or Margarito (shane mosley didn't want none at the time and turned down floyd's offer to fight him) but again, looking at it from Mayweathers position he could make a lot more money fighting oscar & ricky.

My only critisism is that he retired when he did. I felt there was unfinished business. Well, he's back now. So after Marquez he can fight the winner of Pacquiao/Cotto. There isn't much left for him after that.

yeah i feel like he's beat good fighters but still hasnt proven himself to be great. judah, gatti, manfredy etc. all pretty good fighters but until he beats guys like marquez, cotto, marg, pac etc. then he can deserve to talk the way he does

so what if marquez and cotto win?...theyll fight each other and pac and floyd can fight each other? it seems everyone wants pac and mayweather, but i feel marquez should win the bout, while as much as i love pacman the size difference (along with cottos overall skill) kinda worries me

A lot of them fights get turned down because of money problems. Floyd mayweather is pound for pound the best fighter. Why? he hasn't been beating and he draws the bigger crowd. With that being said these other fighters wanted 50/50 split and floyd and his camp said hell no. I think floyd usually gets 60/and the other boxer gets 40. Floyd draws the crowd every time so why would he split something 50/50. Floyd draws two type of crowds his fans and the people that want to see him get his ass whooped. Either way you look at it both sides payed to see him not the other fighter. So thats why he doesn't take a lot of fights.
Fuck all that bullshit....

Sounds like a bunch of excuses to me. Floyd already gots hella loot so taken a 50/50 fight wouldn't make or break him.

Im mean what the fuck happened to fighting for pride, fighting the best out there to show your better, fighting because your a BOXER and thats what you do and thats what you love.

Its just like an emcee, if another rapper calls you out and spit a line on you your gonna get back at um, right? Not say well "it aint makin me no money". To me thats bitch shit and going against the whole culture of boxing.

I agree with you 100% man... But todays world is based on money not rep. Back in the day you would see fighters fight for the bigger name and pride but not today it's all about the prize

Man, yeah he has. His resume speaks for itself. You must remember he started fighting at 130 pounds, not 147. He became an all time great before he even started fighting at 147 pounds.

I would agree that if he wants to be considered the geatest or whatever he claims he needs to do more, but he's back so we'll have to wait and see what happens.

so what if marquez and cotto win?...
Very unlikely they would both win. Personally I got Mayweather by UD and Pacquiao by late KO.

theyll fight each other and pac and floyd can fight each other?
I have no idea. It depends on how they lose. If mayweather were to some how lose, best believe there is a rematch.

I think size is overrated in boxing. Look at the heavyweight division - the weights are all over the place but that doesn't mean a 208 pound guy cant beat a 245 pound guy (that recently happened).

I think it's going to be a tough fight, but pacman is at his peak right now and I cant say the same about cotto who got busted up pretty badly and nearly lost his last fight and of course lost to Margarito a couple fights prior. Speed kills and Pac's speed is going to be too much for Cotto.

I dont think anyone in there right mind thats not just hating on Floyd for more personal reasons can say dudes not a great fighter. He is one of the best in the world for sho but like some other people said before me it does seems like he avoids certain boxers at certain times, and if you want to call your self the greatest you have to fight anyone that is great too. If you dont then you cant be considered great or the best even if you are.

Ali never backed down from a fight or wouldn't fight a fighter that was ranked No.1. When your the champ thats who your supposed to be beaten, the best thats out there.
Pac Mans no.1 that who he should be ready to whoop on but I think Floyd knows he might lose to um and im tellin you Floyd wants to be remembered as that fighter that never lost a fight, the boys ego and pride is to big, he dont wanna take that risk with Pac so hes like fuck it.

This will be a very good fight, going the distance. Marquez is an ironman type fighter, he starts slow the first couple of rounds and then comes strong in the remainder of the fight usually the better conditioned fighter. A brawler vs. a boxer, guys like Mayweather and Hopkins aren't as exciting because they like to hit and not be hit, but that's the name of the game. Mayweather will get a late round KO, he's the best counter puncher and is very accurate. However, I won't be surprised if Marquez gets the W.
