I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was Chuck Liddel I heard on the radio a few days ago talking about Floyd's ''shoulder rolling, defense, etc'' not working in the octagon, where they can take you down and hit you, blah blah blah.

Obviously true, but I doubt it would ever happen. Too bad...

yea its two different sports.... if the spurs challenged the patriots to a football game, first out, they would be stupid, second, it wouldnt prove that football is better than basketball if they lost

Better isn't the point. Saying something isn't a real sport or is garbage is the point.

Step in the ring and fight MMA before you talk shit about it. You'll see first hand how fake it is when you get your grill re-arranged.

Exactly. You don't hear MMA fighters talking down on the sport of boxing.

Yeah, Joe Rogan makes more sense, I suppose...I was at work, and only caught a bit of it.

By most (MOST) of the comments here, I take it that most people don't believe boxers could ''make it'' in MMA.

Are there any boxers you feel might make it in the UFC?

Someone should make this a new thread...lol.

yeah, if a ufc fighter went into a boxing ring...he'd more than likely get schooled N' vice versa for a boxer...

but...u didn't hear din thomas talk shit bout boxers until mayweather opened his big mouth n' started talking shit...and fucc all that shit saying MMA ain't a skilled organized sport, until u been training for it or have done it, don't talk shit...a couple of high school friends i know got into MMA, one i know held an amatuer title for a min. till he found his girlfriend n' slipped up on training...got beat in his next match by submission...it takes skills to learn jui jitsu n' shit

How much skill does it take to punch someone in the face repeatedly until they fall down?

Boxing is one skill: Punching. With MMA, if you don't have (at a BARE MINIMUM) Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing.....you're either going to be choked out or have the shit kicked out of you.

1 skill...vs 2+ skills.
Win by KO or Decision...vs Win by KO, Submission or Decision.

Boxing is like Running, while MMA is the whole Triathalon. The reality is that MMA is superior. I'm sorry if it hurts your feelings, but the truth has the ability to do that to people.

If thats what you're trying to reduce boxing to, then you're no better than the boxers and boxing fans who say that MMA is nothing more that two savages rolling around together on the ground trying to rip each other's heads off.

The fact is, that both take an extreme amount of skills. But they are two different animals.

I think that boxers and boxing fans feel threatened by MMA's rising popularity. And feel like their beloved sport is slowly taking the backseat to the up and coming sport.

The thing is, most MMA fans I know, are boxing fans, who grew tired of boxing's ( moreso promoter's ) inability to match the best with the best, and too many lackluster fights, that didn't deliver what casual fans wanted to see.

A knockout, or at least a brutally entertaining fight, where two men left their hearts and souls in the ring. And MMA delivers on that note.
